A great location

Had a 7 night stay in October 2020. The CL was busy but Richard Mason even took the trouble to mow the site between showers. There are 5 hard standings and electric is close by each van. The black waste goes into a sceptic tank which can be unnerving when the waste doesn't disappear as quickly as expected but it was perfectly clean. Richard had installed Sanitizer on all facilities along with PIR activate solar lights which is handy when the water needs refilling at night!!! Although free Wifi is advertised it is difficult to access it as the signal is poor. We shall be returning next year when the weather is kinder. Thanks Richard

Location Location Location

A lovely quiet site in the beautiful Peak District. Easy and quick access by foot or by cycle to the adjacent Tissington Trail and High Peak Trail. Amazing scenery. Will be back!

Lovely CL

Just back from a marvellous midweek break and a perfect location for our first stay in the beautiful Peak District. Richard gave us a warm welcome on arrival and the site is well set out and maintained. Numerous local walks from site and we walked back from Hartington numerous times after visits to the local pubs; torch essential and we had hi viz jackets too.

At the centre of some amazing scenery!

We really enjoyed a short stay last weekend. The Site is at the centre of some amazing scenery. The walking cannot be bettered, Wolfscote Dale, Beresford Dale etc etc. Last weekend was stormy and very windy, we even had overnight snow. It is to the credit of the CL that we were able to drive away from the snow without any difficulties. We must all be grateful that we have access to CLs such as Whitehouse Farm. All the services and facilities are fine. I think this will be even better in the summer so will definately be back in a few months. Thanks for a lovely visit.

Would have stayed longer had the weather been kinder to us.

Booked for four nights at the end of Feb when we had the warmest Feb weather, just our luck that it changed in the first week of March when we arrived in Heathcote. This lovely CL on a small Farm in the lovely village of Heathcote, was ideally placed for long walks with our greyhound had the weather not been very windy with horizontal rain and the threat of snow on our planned leaving date. It was with heavy heart that we decided to cut short our stay, but we did console Richard with promises that we would return in the better weather as his CL offers us everything we could want. The services are conveniently placed on the perimeter of the walled field that the pitches are in. Great views from the site which included seeing an early evening Barn Owl out on his hunt! It's ideally placed for walks on the Tissington trail and lots of other walks from the site or a short ride away. Definately one that we will return to.

Quite site nice views

Booked this site pitch after viewing photos on line. was a little disappointed with the owners as we were just left to find our own way round. The information , signage, and notice board could do with an update! The owners seam more interested in there holiday accommodation that is set up.

Comment from the CL Owner:

I am sorry to hear that you didn’t find us welcoming that certainly wasn’t our intention. We pride ourselves on being relaxed and informal, which most cl users are very happy with, however we will bear your comments in mind. Thank you for staying with us. Janet

Fine CL for Walking and Cycling

Difficult to add to the reviews already posted but just spent four nights at this fairly compact CL. Five fairly level hardstanding pitches in a row, easy access to the usual water, waste water, chemical toilet disposal and recycling bins. Ideal for walking and cycling - public footpath straight from the access road and the Tissington Trail a short ride up the road. Lovely late autumn break, thanks.

Another good one

We stayed here for a few days as we needed to be in Hartington over a weekend. The grass part of the site was very "squidgy" and with our outfit couldn't avoid going on it. No problems with any services, Owners were away and we'd paid in advance so had no cause to see anyone. Entry to the site with a 24' twin axle caravan is straightforward. Leaving the site would have been problematic if someone else hadn't already demolished the wall. The lane isn't quite wide enough to turn the 'van out of the site. If Richard rebuilds the wall and makes the gateway 18" wider the problem will be resolved.

Smashing little site

We only stopped overnight this time around but liked the site very much. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The dogs were welcome and there was a great walk straight from the site. The site is surrounded by stunning countryside yet only a short drive from Chatsworth House, Bakewell and Buxton. It wouldn't take long to get to Sheffield or Manchester if you fancied a day shopping. There are now 5 hardstandings and the electricity was fine for us. We would recommend a visit to this CL and intend to return so we can explore the area properly.
