A really attractive site

On phoning to book we were given our pitch number and our name and pitch were on the board when we arrived - so pitching was really easy. Several water taps around, plus obviously loo disposal and also rubbish and easy recycling. The surroundings with the lake and country side are wonderful. The site is really peaceful and well kept. Payment is by cash as is the payment for the metered electricity. You just take a reading before you leave, work out the cost and put the money in an envelope at the house - really easy. Our three night stay was £14 per night plus just over £10 for electricity, which we used for our low wattage kettle and a bit of electric heating. The supply is currently 10amps. We were on a level hardstanding with grass to the sides. If you follow the site's directions for access the site is well signed. Our visit was March, so no sitting outside the van, but with better weather the site would be wonderful for just chilling, watching the ducks and other birds. Lots to do in the area, depending on your preferences. We went to Gibraltar point for a short stroll (and hot chocolate & cake!) and also explored Burgh village itself which is quite interesting (and has a nice bakery!)

One of the best, but don’t tell anyone!!!

We are never disappointed when visiting this site. Have been coming here at least once a year for best part of 15 years and it is the best kept site we use. Site fees here are most reasonable, just pay extra for electricity used with honesty box. Easy access to many seaside resorts and places of interest. Visited nearby Gunby Hall for first time this year, well worth a visit. Thanks to Bob and Karen for the warm welcome we always receive.

Enjoyable stay

We spent 4 nights on this pleasant C.L. in early March. The weather before we arrived was dire and we weren't too happy to find ourselves allocated a pitch on reinforced plastic but surrounded by grass. This would be fine in good weather. The owners were away for the weekend but upon phoning them they confirmed that one of the other hardstanding pitches was available as someone had cancelled. If you don't want grass then ask not to be put on 4 or 5. The stay after that minor hiccup was fine. All of the usual facilities nearby including recycling for rubbish. If Skegness is your thing (it isn't for us) then it's only a few miles away. We like Gibraltar Point though which is accessed via Skegness itself. Gunby Hall is about 5 minutes in the car or a good walk over the fields if you are fit. Dog walking is behind the site. There is a small pond, hence adult only. The owner did mention that whilst he wasn't set the lake up for fishing he doesn't mind if people do but best ask permission. Supermarkets etc. can be found in Skegness. If the site is full then ask if they have space on Birdsong, also owned by them and 100 yards down the lane on the opposite side. I would suggest you access the site from the directions in the handbook and not satnav as the lanes are a bit nerve shredding. We know as we were diverted down them due to an accident on the main road.

Little Gem

We stayed on the Birdsong site, beautiful site, very well maintained. Peaceful site, heard tawny owl most nights. Stunning sunsets. Had fantastic weather. Took the bus number 56 to Skegness, 15 mins walk from site, be sure to stand by wall otherwise bus does not stop! Bob and Karen very friendly and helpful, during our stay we had to order some parcels for delivery and they kindly let us use their address. Good information board on site. Would recommend visiting Huttoft terrace car park especially if you have MH or camper as at the moment can park for free right on the beach. Would certainly recommend this site and would definitely stay again if we find ourselves in the area again.

The best CL we have visited

We have been caravanners since the 60's and I must say this is one of the best sites we have visited. Our welcome was on the board as we turned in.nice and clear with our Christian names also our dogs name and site number. We parked up and was met by a lovely lady who welcomed us and gave us details of where things were. The next day the owners came to say hello and have a chat. What friendly lovely couple they are and as we were to find out extremely helpful. The site is immaculate, short grass well cared for and The chemical toilet empty area so neat and tidy and the best yet. The lake is a lovely view. and the ducks friendly and tend to stick to the lake area. So no duck poo about. ,each unit has it's own bench and bird tables. The village of Burgh Le Marsh has everything you need. We can recommend The Bell.fantastic mini mixed grill for £8.95. Or 2 meals for £12 Also The Bulls Head do a reasonable carvery on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. £6.50 . While there we had a problem with the battery not charging and lost the shower. Water pump some lights and the motor mover which we desperately need when we get home. Bob came to our rescue and loaned us his battery charger. We found we needed a caravan engineer so again Bob came to our rescue and recommended. A local guy . He came out the same day , it turned out to be user error , ( hubby had turned off power switch ) the engineer was lovely knew what he was doing, checked everything was working fine and only charged us a nominal amount. So we highly recommend local engineer if you have any problems. I would recommend this site to all adults.

The best CL ever!

This is the most beautiful CL we have ever been too in over 30 years of Caravaning. The pond is simply stunning, beautifully landscaped and visited by a wide variety of wild life. The hosts, Bob and Karen are very welcoming and hospitable too. It's in a great location for exploring the area but you will soon want to be back. So Peaceful, tranquil and paradisaic. We'll definitely be back.

Beautiful place.

Been here several times and Birdsong across the road. In my opinion, this should be the model for all CL sites.

Great place to stay

Booked here for 3 nights and ended up on the field across the road, 'Birdsong'. What a great place, lovely little pond to walk round, opposite a public footpath to Burgh le Marsh. I'll be returning here.
