Gem of a site

Follow the owners directions to the site and not your sat nav and you find it very easy, good access to a beautiful immaculate site with very large pitches, divided by shrubs, small apple trees etc. It is just like caravanning on their lawn. Everywhere is kept to an high standard, information hut, fresh eggs and garden produce for sale. Linda and Keith are experience caravanners themselves and are really friendly and eager to help if you need it. We will certainly use the cl again

Weekend at Windrush

This CL didn't initially appear on my search for dog friendly CLS near Wisbech, but found it when checking other nearby CL'S. The site description said dogs by arrangement so a quick call to the owner confirmed she was happy to allow dogs, which was great as the site was very close to the MGB Hive the our reason for the visit. The site is set behind the house, through 2 wide gates and is like pitching in a beautiful garden, level lawn with bushes, apple trees and plants. Although a fairly compact site, the pitches have plenty of room. Facilities are clean & good, there is even a separate bin for food waste that the owners use for compost. The owners were away in their caravan when we arrived but their son was very welcoming, and we caught up with the owners on their return. There is a great information shed on site with tourist and local info, games and books. The village has a couple of pubs but the closest is a good half mile walk. Wisbech is a pleasant town with all the usual shops and facilities. The lane from the site is fairly quiet and ok for dog walks and there is a pavement towards the village, but the road can be busy at times which also means there is some traffic noise on site too at busy times. It was however quiet at night. The owners keep chickens and a couple of geese so fresh eggs are available to buy. This is a lovely little CL and we would happily use it again.

beautiful CL

This is a really beautiful enormous back garden CL. They do have chickens which produce the best eggs I have ever had too. Unfortunately, 3 of them love to roam the CL so if you have pets you must keep them on a lead. He also sells some of his home grown produce. Both owners are really friendly and will do anything for you. It is not far into Wisbech where there are lots of shops etc. and further places to visit. If you are after a peaceful stay then you cannot beat this one. The information hut has books, games etc. along with lots of leaflets on surrounding district. Please do write in their book about your stay. You will not find a better CL even at double their price - do try this site you will not be disappointed.

Perfect

We stayed on this CL for just over a week and could not fault it in any way.  The owners were helpful and courteous, friendly and chatty without being too in-your-face. The chickens wander freely so do remember to keep your dog on a lead - fresh eggs, honey and garden produce are all available on site.  We will definitely be visiting again.

Little gem !

This was our first visit to Windrush and it won't be our last !  We chose Windrush as we were visiting friends and it was the closest to them and what we found was a bit of peace and tranquility! Pure bliss. Lovely surroundings, the owners were unobtrusive but helpful. The chickens eggs were lovely. We know where we will be staying the next time we visit our friends.

a wonderful site

This is one of the best CLs that we have stayed on. Peaceful, secure and beautifully maintained.  As other reviewers have said a very friendly welcome from the owners and also from the assorted animal members of the family!  Definitely one that we will return to when in this area.
