This was our second weekend at Alderstead Heath, there is so much to do round and about that we wanted to come back and we will be returning again.
The first thing I think I should say is that the directions in the book are spot on, don't use your sat nav, and get a map as I thought the reason it told us not to use a sat nav was to stop us turning right across the busy four lane A23, but to continue further to a roundabout to make a safe U turn. So we did this and then followed the sat nav which told us to turn left by Starbucks and took us up an extremely narrow lane with few passing places and angry locals fed up with caravans making a wrong turn. So go past Starbucks, take the right split to the A23 south and take the next left about a mile or so further along the road, it's easy once you know.
Anyway, the site itself is brilliant! It is really big and superbly laid out so you get the feeling of being on a smaller site. The welcome from the wardens was fabulous, they are probably the best humoured we have encountered and extremely helpful.
The toilet block was immaculate, it's being updated this year but it's got allot of life left in it yet and so clean with lots of lovely hot water and powerful showers.
Back to the site itself, it's like staying in a parkland, lots of space and wildlife and so peaceful, we expected it to be noisy but we only just heard the motorway once when the wind had changed but it wasn't intrusive at all.
And for things to do there is too much to choose. We think we could stay once a month for the rest of the year and still not get tired of choosing where to go.
So take care with the directions, consult a map first and stay at Alderstead Heath.
