Great site ,great location , but shortage of staff and price hikes let it down

This is a great site , great location for London or the South Coast , nice and quiet although its close to main routes , surrounded by woodland. We have used this site a few times to visit friends as we used to live down this way and have always have a good stay . Unfortunately this time a few points to pick up on , apparently they have warden shortages , and although the wardens that were there were great and done their best, this resulted in one toilet block being shut during our stay , the site was not full but busy , so facilities were very busy , and got quite dirty in between cleans (they were cleaned very well though) , which then takes me on to the nest gripe , last year two people for two nights £57.60 , this year two nights and two people £83.20 !! I know one was in school holidays and one just out of them , but really ?? . Also noticed as per our visits previous that the travelling community that stays there seem to think they have exclusive access to the disabled toilet block , they all have keys they have bought online and there needs to be some restriction on its incorrect use, we mentioned it to the warden and they said yes we know , but cant do anything about it ? So lower the prices a touch and give it a quick refurb and hire extra staff and it will then again be a superb site !!

Hi there,

We often used to frequent this site as it is relatively local to home (nr, Crawley) but the last year we only made it there once in Sept 2022, this year we haven't visited but we are looking to stay there in a few weeks time.

It's a shame to hear that a lot of pitches are closed off, we usually try to pick the same hardstanding pitch on the lower section just on the right of the main exit road, in fact they're the last row of H/S pitches before you head up hill to exit the site.

Where the pitch closures a mixture of H/S and grass?

Completely agree about the nightly pitch fee increases, we've used CLs more this year, two club sites and other sites with the 'other' club.

The presence of the traveller community at this site over the past few years made the site feel less friendly as it has little or no camping community feel anymore, which is a real shame.

It's big site so hopefully the CAMC can attract more staff to make a great site, great again.
