Good for families

An unknown gem.

We went here simply because it was somewhere different. What a lovely intimate site, very welcoming, friendly and helpful wardens, comprehensive and clean facilities that blend with the surroundings. The hard standing pitches are big enough for the largest outfits. The manicured grass pitches (not in use this week) were mostly flat, but those opposite reception appeared to have a gentle slope. There is currently some noise (but not too intrusive) from a house building site next door, but very peaceful when work stopped at 5, and will be silent once the houses are finished later this year. The village of Ashwell is an amazing find. Lots of history, old houses, pubs, shop and a real butcher, really attractive - do go and see the "well". No dog walk on site, but the wide bridle path/by-way outside the gate runs along the Hertfordshire County Boundary and is excellent flat walking that no dog or master would complain about. Lots of things nearby, IWM Duxford, Audley End., Knebworth House,  Shuttleworth Collection and many others - an excellent location. We will be back
