Great location

Just returned from a fabulous week at Ayr. Close enough to walk into the town centre, but the tree coverage gives the site a remote feeling. Facilities are well maintained, staff are very friendly. Plenty to do in the area for families. All in all, 10/10

First time visit

Our first visit to this site while touring Scotland. Usual warm welcome on arrival and usual high quality facilities. Well situated for walking into Ayr and along beach. Sadly Ayr suffering like all town centres.

Site Appraisal

Just spent several days at this lovely site, which is in an ideal location to visit the seaside town of Ayr. Unfortunately our stay was spoiled by the incessant barking of dogs of varies sizes and breeds continually barking as you walked passed. The dog owners seem oblivious to the noise which makes the matter worse! Please note, don't walk on the grass, there is dog excrement waiting to be trod on. On a positive note, perhaps the poor wardens should ask campers 'do you have a dog?', and then issue them with a flyer explaining the club rules. Will we back, I doubt it.

Lovely site in a great location

First time visiting this site and would definitely return for another visit. Riverside walks close by and only a short walk into the town centre and to the lovely beach. Easy to find the site and it was clean and tidy with spacious pitches.

Wonderful location. Well recommended

As motorhomers Ayr Craigie Gardens is a wonderful site and to be recommended. The location is ideal to either walk (15-20 minutes) or cycle (10 minutes) to most external facilities e.g. town or beach. And all along mainly safe cycle ways or public paths. Site is tranquil and well kept by an excellent site team. Warm welcome. Very helpful. Ayr appeared to us as visitors to be well looked after, clean and tidy. Residents may feel differently but to us it seemed so. Definitely on our return list.

Don't worry about the potholes - there are a few but you would hardly notice them

First time at a CMC site and after reading reviews we were a little apprehensive about pot holes and old toilets. Turned out to be completely unnecessary . Access is fine and couldn't complain about the toilets either. We had a very pleasant four day stay - walked in to Ayr in 15 mins and over the weekend we walked the Ayrshire Coastal Path both North and South. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would recommend the site which we found to be clean , easy to access and private

Love this site and location

We visit this site usually at least once every year. The location is perfect for us, especially having 2 dogs. Great walks by the riverside and into town to the beach. The site and facilities are well maintained by the wardens However this year I have noticed some members are totally disregarding the 5 mph speed limit and one way system especially when the wardens are off duty. It's such a shame as there are valid reasons for those restrictions. Lots of lovely beaches and county parks nearby with great choices of supermarkets and other shops. Definitely one of our very favourite sites and locations!

Super convenient location.

Very good welcome as usual. We walked into town along the river which is an easy 20 minute stroll. The beach is another 10 minutes or so. Ayr council were certainly trying hard with providing rubbish bins. I've never seen so many in one space! Public toilets in town cost 30p but were good quality and very clean. We wanted a quiet beach to visit with the dog so went down the coast to Crowburnfoot. Convenient car parking with toilet facilities.

Good clean and easy to get to site

Was at this site for three nights 30th March to 2nd April and enjoyed the time spent there, we paid a visit to Dumfries House where Prince Charles has a strong connection could spend quite a bit of time there. Then there is Burns Museum and meany other places to visit, The Wardens do a great job keeping the toilet block clean, and are very helpful. The entrance to the site has a few pot holes, but is on the councils book to get repaired shortly we shall be back again later for a longer visit.

A brilliant site

We stayed here in October, booked for 7 nights and extended it to 10 nights and had a great time exploring the area. We hadn’t stayed in the area before and found lots to do. The beaches, which are plenty. Museums - the boat museum is well worth a visit. We took the ferry from Largs over to the Isle of Great Cumbrae which is lovely and great to visit. We had a problem with our car before we left home and had phoned up the wardens before hand to say that we might be late. In the end we arrived just on time before they finished for the day but they could not have been more helpful. They worked tirelessly during our visit and kept all the facilities clean and tidy. You can walk into Ayr easily and there is a dog walking area just off the site. We really hope that this site stays open.
