Thank you once again for an excellent stay . Staff are very accommodating Yvonne especially thanks again for sorting us out with accommodation at short notice. We will be back soon.
Brilliant site
The only thing I find to criticise about this site is the access road (especially at the gate) is a mess of potholes that desperately require repairs.
Very disappointed
We stayed at this site 2/8/17 for 4 nights the toilets and shower facilities were appalling, having 4 showers on a campsite with 90 pitches is unacceptable, the facilities need to be updated as a matter of urgency. The wardens were helpful, but we would not be going back to this campsite.
Don't Visit - Dog Owners Have No Respect for Other Site Users
I found Wardens very nice & friendly.
The exits road at our pitch was very tight & noticed Site users frequently knocked out pillar due to tightness of exit - road angle just needed to be altered slightly to avoid this.
Biggest problem was dog owners did not take their dogs off site to do their business even through asked to by Warden. The dog owners ignored site rules. Have dog free sites or at a minimum keep all dog owners in one area. Nothing worse than getting frightened by a dog suddenly barking, or growling, at you when out for a walk or even when you are on your own pitch. They start barking early. Site users have times to be quiet - why not dogs? At least if in one area, furthest away, keeps noise in that area. Saw owners letting the dogs foul just outside their van door - no consideration for next users who might have kids! Owners were letting the dogs do their business wherever they wanted. Not dogs fault though, it's the Owners!
Disappointed with toilet conditions. Wardens did well considering. I believe the Club are in talks with University about renewing site lease, so that explains lack of money being spent on site. Even do minimum to site & people may return (not me though for reasons given) to justify spend & extending lease.
Overall, site nice. Wardens nice. Dogs a pest. Stay at another nearby site if you don't like dogs.
A stopover site
This site was chosen as a stopover coming to the end of our tour of Scotland, and sadly a great disappointment compared to the many great sites we had visited, there are no views whatsoever I felt like we were in a prison camp with a tall metal fence and trees surrounding the site, the post code is wrong our sat nav took us to the university you need Craigie way not road, it's situated in a council estate. The facilities were average and in need of an upgrade, the grass was long all the warden seemed to do was empty the rubbish, the photos do the site a favour as it's run down now
Week at site
Getting ready to leave here tomorrow after a weeks stay. Awesome site, facilities spotless and staying here has been like the song " sound of silence" if there had of been a mark of 10 it would have got it. Close to most things I. Ayrshire and a 10 min walk along the river in to Ayr. Had a great relaxing stay here and heading up to StrathClyde tomorrow. Will be back to this site if we stay in the area again which I am sure we will. Had. Even concerned with a review about dogs running loose on site, but can assure anyone with any doubts it does not happen
First Experience!
First ever visit to Ayr Craigie Gardens site and unfortunately our last. Having recently visited Huntly Castle; Culloden Moor; Bunree and Lochside Forfar where we found the toilet block facilities on all four sites to be first class, it was extremely disappointing to find the facilities at Ayr to be of very poor condition. For the size of the site, to have only 4 shower cubicles which to say the least were very smelly (I would say down to bad drainage). Compared to the other sites mentioned Ayr needs major upgrading. Wardens found to be very helpful and pleasant, and the layout of the site good. Directions in the handbook on how to get to the site very good - just a pity that sign posts for the (all 5 sites visited) were so small that we missed a few and glad to do some turn backs!!
Well kept busy site
Stopped here en route to Ireland ferry. Friendly warden very helpful. Pleasant riverside walk to Ayr centre. Good washing facilities. Did the job and would return again for a couple of nights.

OK, not great. Dogs a problem here.
Site is quite cramped compared to others we have used in Scotland. Expensive too for early July, but this was partly due to Scottish school holidays starting.
Wardens keep site very clean and tidy with nice floral displays at reception.
Disappointing that wifi is only Bronze rated as this is in Ayr and near Glasgow, so should be better.
Main complaint is dogs being allowed to walk off leads and, even when on leads, to foul and urinate on site in contravention of Club rules.Wardens were sympathetic, and said that signs reminding dog owners of Club rules had been removed following complaints by dog owners!!!
Oh yes, and the Club leaflet on rules for dogs on site was not handed out to dog owners on arrival because it was not in the new Caravan and Motorhome Club livery!
What about those of us who do not own dogs and do not like living in a dog toilet?
I will not be going back any time soon for this reason alone.

Remains one of our favourite sites
Enjoyed our stay here as usual. Ideal site for access to riverside walks and easy access to the town and beach. Great site for dog owners. Always well maintained with lovely floral display at the entrance. Wardens always very helpful and friendly. Only thing that marred our stay was another camper helping themselves to our water filling hose and adaptors that my husband accidentally left beside the drinking water tap. Shame on you for not handing it in to the office!
