A Well Above Average Site

This adults only site, has got to be one of the best kept and laid out sites. My wife and I agree it is the best one we have stayed at so far (members for 20 years). The staff and wardens were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. If you are a caravaner, you do not have to park your own rig; a warden unhitches your van for you and couples it onto one of their Kubota tractors, takes it to your pitch and sites it perfectly for you. When you leave they de-pitch you and couple your van onto your towing vehicle for you. I think this is a sensible idea, as the site roads are narrow and parking a large caravan, with a say a large 4 x 4, would not only be difficult, but could also damage the well-manicured lawns. I have a motorhome and I was even asked if I would like a warden to park it for me. To me this is going the extra mile to please us, their customers. Although all cars have to be parked in the car park by reception, it is not far to walk from any part of the site and there are no restrictions on driving your car to your pitch for loading, unloading, and passenger pick-up. The site is laid out with hedges between some pitches for extra privacy and we never felt crowded in. There are statues and carved birds in the hedge and garden areas. There is a very pleasant woodland walk on the site and a separate well maintained dog walk behind it. The well-stocked goldfish pond was a surprising, nice touch too. The whole setup feels more like a well laid out and maintained garden than a caravan site. As an added bonus, it is far enough from the main roads that that to hear a car drive by is a rarity. There are the usual communal facilities, including dustbins for rubbish and recycling, fresh water taps and grey water disposal, the chemical disposal is in a small heated room which has a hand washing sink as well as the usual disposal drain. The serviced pitches have a post which provides the electric hook-up, water and a TV aerial socket, the grey water drain is beside the post. Toilet facilities: there are ten cubicles, all of which can be used by both men and women; this helps alleviates the problem which sometimes occurs when one gender bathroom is crowded to overflowing, while the other is not full at all. Each cubicle has its own shower, wash-basin, toilet, hand drier and hair drier. All of these cubicles are cleaned about four times per day, and the shower curtains are changed for clean ones at least once a week. This is a site you could relax on if you decided to have a day of rest and the local area is very pleasant too. The only downside is that public transport is not great from Bishop Sutton, so you really need your own wheels; however the site does have a reasonably priced hire car you can book. We had to leave a few days early due to illness, and the site does not give refunds for leaving early, unless they manage to re-hire your pitch. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email a couple of days later saying they had re-hired
