Wonderful spot

This site is perfection - certainly in March. Beautiful site in every way. The staff are friendly and helpful. The facilities are immaculate as are the grounds. In addition, the location is super with a great bus service to take us to several value supermarkets in the area. Oh, and yes, it is pretty handy for the Tunnel and Dover too.

Excellent stop for the tunnel

Easy to find, brilliant access for the Eurotunnel, very friendly welcome (even though we were late due to operation stack closing the M20). Had a ferry pitch right by the loos which wouldn't chose if staying longer but otherwise a great site.

Same friendly site

This was out 3rd visit to Black Horse,  still a very clean, well laid out site,  new 2 wardens were great,  very friendly and laid back. We stayed on a ferry pitch up top for 2 nights as on the second day we travelled over to France with the car, leaving caravan here.  Nice easy 10.minute drive to Dover and nice to get back and have a good night's sleep in the caravan before travelling home the next day, great location . Pub across the road has gone down hill in my view over the last year, looking a bit tired and run down so we ventured over to The Lighthouse,  on the cliff edge at Capel Le fern,  very nice and only 10 mind away,  highly recommended.  It was very quiet this time, unlike July and August but you can expect that.  Great site,  very clean , we will be back

Frist Time

lovely site but would like to go back in summer to see the difference. In my option the caravans were a bit to close together.

Very helpful wardens

We stayed here on our return journey from Rouen France. A great welcome from friendly wardens who assisted us without prebooking for one "peaceful" night at the site. Thanks for your consideration and help.

Visit March 2015

Thought the site was in an excellent state. Whilst reasonably full for this time of year it was quiet and tidy.  The Black Horse pub opposite the site gets 10 out of 10 for charm friendliness and good old fashioned service. No cash - no problem bring it in tomorrow! We did not try the bus service which appeared to be very frequent between Canterbury and Folkstone. In general we wondered if comments could be made to the club sites regarding access on the local buses for dogs other than guide dogs. Will return.

Excellent site

Usual high CC standard of showers and toilets and very helpful staff. Decent size pitches, pleasant location. Handy village stores opposite and pub which does good food all day. I am loathe to say anything good about Stagecoach, but their No16 express bus service (Hythe-Folkestone-Canterbury) which goes along the road every 15 minutes or so was excellent. We oldies made full use of our free bus passes. Good walks along Folkestone sea front and around, Hythe good, Canterbury OK but £10 per head admission fee to the cathedral is an unchristian rip-off (cf Notre Dame in Paris which merely asks for a donation). Still can't blame Caravan Club for that. Obviously excellent site for ferries and tunnel. One reviewer said wifi was poor - we found it OK, a bit slow but reliable enough for emails and looking at weather forecast, but not fast enough for streaming. That I think is a product of how this country lags behind in rural broadband provision. Also only got basic mobile phone signal (no 3G) on either EE or O2.

great site, shame about wifi

we had a lovely break at the half term with our 6 year old and 3 month old, site was clean and has a nice safe play park we had a pitch next to play park and could see our older son playing from the window. a couple of issue we had where the barrier to drive in was open all the time and you didn't need to use pass key to come in, also the shower in the family bathroom doesn't work properly and water a bit on the cool side, but main issue was that there is no signal on site ( we have iphones on three ) and we paid for wifi for a week of £10 and it was useless very hard to log on and if you do get on it is very slow and logs you out all the time wasn't worth the money, had to go off site to look online for places to go ect, so a waste of £10. other than that wardens where friendly and we had a great time would go back again but not pay for wifi.
