Beautiful location

We try and visit this site every year.  Missed last year but so good to see old friends from previous years when we visited a few weeks ago. I love this site and look forward to visiting again when the improvements have been made. I can understand the comments made by my fellow member commenting on the number of dogs on the site.  I am a dog owner too but my dogs are well behaved and are quiet and kept under control. I do not understand why people allow their dogs to bark. However, the majority of people are responsible dog owners and I enjoy meeting fellow caravanners through my dogs. On the negative side, the road to the site needs urgent attention, beware of severe speed ramps that are not clearly marked and pot holes!  Having said this, the site along with Incleborough remain my favourite sites.  Beautiful, beautiful location.

Dogs Galore

This is a lovely site, well located and whilst I recognise the shower blocks are shortly to be refurbished the current facilities do let the site down. My biggest gripe is the control of dogs, clearly we are not dog owners and at times I feel we are very much in the minority. The site being predominantly grass pitches, there is a general acceptance for dogs to be given pretty much free rein. Whilst there are many responsible dogs owners, there are some that spoil it for others. Dogs messing outside the showers, outside our awning and some other areas all under the cover of dark, along with 20 foot dog leads for you to trip up over and constant barking! Whilst this can only be dealt with if seen by the Wardens, I do feel all of us should report these occurrences if and when they occur. I do feel that it is time for the club to start considering areas of club sites that are dog free, this I believe is becoming a serious issue. Whilst this may appear a rant, the site is ideally located within the New Forest for access to many points of interest.

Lovely location

This is a beautifully kept site with friendly and helpful staff, it is only let down by its poor washroom facilities and lack of wifi. I understand that both of these problems will be addressed this winter when the site is upgraded.  Good location about 30 mins walk from Brocklehurst. Surrounding countryside is beautiful and it is lovely to see the New Forest ponies wandering freely.

What caravanning is all about...

Lovely location ,well run, beautiful area.Wardens are efficiently friendly.Love the quirky rotunda shower block but it is dated/tired and must be a swine to keep clean. This site is different in the season-as is the area.It seemed overcrowded this time -our last visit was in May 2015.Lyndhust,in particular, was difficult to access and traverse

Black Knowl refurbishment

We have had an excellent holiday recently and all the wardens, without exception, were most helpful and kind. We understand that there will be big changes to the site. We heard that the new road through the site is planned to be gravel which would cause great difficulty for people like me who have to rely completely on a mobility scooter. It would also be noisy for wheeled waste containers etc. It could also make for some danger to cyclists and children.

Best ever

We found this the best site we have been to for relaxation, peace and quiet and places to see. Our only negative is the toilet block but not an issue as we have our own facilities. site wardens were extremely helpful and approachable

Stayed at this site 9th and 10th July 2016

Friendly and helpful staff. The current toilet block arrangement is quirky but they are clean and functional. My wife says the down side is no handwash or bins in the individual compartments but apart from that they are good for families. The location is down a long track which is a bind as we were asked to leave by 1100hrs due to a local fun run using the track from 1115. Without this you are expected to be gone by 1130 with no room to negotiate as the track isn't really wide enough for two way caravan traffic. Big downside for us as there are other sites nearby with comparable facilities that allow late leavers to stay a bit longer. There is no play area for younger children, another big downside for us with two kids aged 5 and 7. Arriving late on a Friday after the kids finish school we were also at a disadvantage having to take whatever pitches are left which is another negative for families but I realise this is a CC thing. The site is quiet and though, away from any main roads. Not really family orientated.

Soooooo Quiet and Peaceful

Have not slept so well in years ....the site was completely silent between 10pm and 7am and I never heard a single think other than the odd bird singing as I awoke (and all the windows on the campavan were wide open so if there was noise I would have heard it). Lovely peaceful location, generous pitches, friendly staff would like to have stayed longer and explored the area, but will return for a proper break soon.

Oh boy what a toilet block !

Access to the site is not easy with street restrictions and some fierce speed humps ( that destroy jockey wheels ). The site location in the forest is excellent as are the staff on site, but the sooner the club pulls down the toilet block the better

Great two weeks, Can't wait to go back

Spent the last two weeks on the site and had a fantastic time. Yes the wardens are helpful and friendly, Yes the toilet block is dated, most of the reviews will tell you that, although in truth, it's not the blocks being dated that's the problem, its just that there are simply not enough cubicles for a site of this size which means a wait of around 5 minutes in the morning. So what are the plus points, well you're in the new forest so the walking and cycling is second to none. You are about 10 minutes from Brockenhurst station which means you are minutes away from Lymington, Southampton, Poole and Bournemouth. For all the cyclist amongst us, Traffic is very considerate to all road users, no one came within a meter of me. Also the New Forest Cycling club have a chaingang on a Tuesday that leaves the ford at around 7:00Pm and a Saturday club training ride that leaves the car park at the rear of sainsburys at 9:00 am on a Saturday. Be warned though the Club run is around 19 MPH so its a bit quick. but the club members are a friendly bunch and its a great ride. They do require that all non club members contact the club coach Barry Wootton on 07711 631826 in advance and helmets are compulsory.
