Old and tired

Much has been said about this site. The location is second to none, you are in the heart of the forest. What the club charge for this site is now outrageous for the facilities provided. No heating in the rooms, very poor water pressure, cracked and missing tiles in the rooms, hard standings that flood due to poor drainage, outside washing up point. Also beware when you arrive as when you pull into the lane for booking in you are confronted by the wardens car, parked in the lane against a no parking sign, but one again much has been said about the wardens on this site. This is a fantastic location but we will not be returning until the club spends some serious money on it.

Be Aware

Site location is absolutely perfect but we warned that 2 of the Wardens are miserable and unfriendly which makes dealing with them very uncomfortable. The shower and toilet facilities are really in a desperate state and urgently need a complete overall.

Unique Site

Stayed here for 3 nights during the last week in September 2015. The site is excellent, the location is really in the heart of the forest, on the edge of Brockenhurst. It is not the easiest site to find on a first visit, and the map we were given on arrival was very useful, but would have been so much more so if we had had it before our arrival. We missed the site 3 times before getting it right, and turning places are few and far between. However, having found our way, the site is lovely. The pitches are very good, and the facilities are different from anywhere else we have stayed. Each one is an individual bathroom, with shower, hand basin and loo. Although they are clean with lots of hot water, the water pressure is a little low, and the infrastructure is a little worn out. However, I understand that the bathrooms are due for a refurbishment in the near future. Having said that, they are perfectly serviceable and well looked after. The site is very secluded, and we were lucky enough to hear lots of owls, and on one occasion a stag bellowing in the forest. Beware of loose animals, particularly ponies, and PLEASE stick to the 40 limit in the Forest. All in all, a lovely place to visit.

september

love this site, great area, really relaxing, the toilet block is still the original which i know others dont like but theres more room in each cubeicle than other modern blocks and you dont spend more than 15 minutes in it, The area is great for walking, cycling, its a shame theres no papers anymore or the local baker doesn't visit as the iced buns were yummy! but i would go there if you havent been before and its also great in late autumn as the tress change colours.

Away from it all

This site is right in the heart of the New Forest and ideal for walkers, dog owners, tree huggers (sorry, no insult intended), leaf peepers and those who generally like the Forest and want peace and quiet. The Forest opens up in front of you right outside the site gate. It's genuinely a get away from it all site. Some more hard standings wouldn't go amiss and the facilities are rather tired although clean and perfectly usable.

Wonderful Site

This was our first time on a club site after using CLs for many years, so we were unsure how we would get on with a larger site. We needn't have worried - it was just as good and the kids found friends to play with in no time. The site itself is great - really well drained (we had some very  heavy and prolonged rain on a couple nights and we never once had to deal with puddles or mud! The shop had all the emergency essentials you would need and the warden team was amazingly helpful - even to the extent of phoning the Isle of Wight Ferry company to answer a question I had asked. The facilities on the site were great - clean and no shortage of hot water in the showers. Having so many individual cubicles with shower, toilet and basin must have made it a real job to keep on top of - but they were always clean and fresh. The location is brilliant for cycling in the New Forest - which we did lots of, as well as trips to the beaches at Lymington and Christchurch. There are plenty of wild New Forest ponies all around the site  - but the cattle grid keeps them off the site itself. We also had a run out to the IoW as mentioned earlier. Nearby Brockenhurst has a Tesco & Sainsbury's for your groceries as well as some lovely pubs and a takeaway. There are also several cycle hire places if you don't take your own. We will definitely be coming back here!

Perfect for nature lovers

We are currently enjoying a weeks break at this lovely site.  The position is perfect, right in the heart of the New Forest, but with a sunny open aspect.  Lots to do and see in the area.  We have visited the Motor Museum and Bucklers Hard - be sure to use your club vouchers for good reductions in entry fees.  Another day out in Bournemouth - can recommend the Russell-Cotes Art Gallery and Museum.  Hired bikes for a days ride in Burley.  Walks in the forest right from the site. But the highlight for me has been the wildlife.  Being able to hear the Owls at night and hear and see the deer getting ready for the rut.  Even woken this morning by the deer bellowing and clashing of antlers just outside the site! We even like the quirky facilities.  Hope to return in the future.  Highly recommended.
