Nice stay but

Stayed on service pitch lovely stay as always .but why they have put cut outs in the hedge behind service pitches so you have people and screaming children running throu your pitch all day is beyond me.People are surely fit enough to walk the extra paces like I did so not to disturb people's chill out time .

My favourite site

My family and I (& doggo) been holidaying either in a caravan although now Motorhome, at Black Knowl for over 20 years! My favourite site, lots to do and see in area! My fur baby 🐾 loves the local walks and especially streams nearby to keep cool-then back to site for a clean at dog /cycle wash! We love cycling too so plenty of cycle paths, even cycling to Burley worth a visit. Facilities are fab on site! Staff always friendly and helpful and added bonus of bike hire at site plus the evening food vans on a few nights of the week! Good 20 minute walk into Brockenhurst from site and 50 mins to Lyndhurst through Forest 🌳 Local hotel ( you pass on way in) has outside eating at rear of hotel for a lovely lunch! See you next year!

perfect as always

have stayed here several times as my wife and i love the site. the staff always helpful and friendly , the site always kept to a high standard . this was one of the first sights we went to many years ago when we started caravanning , we have since had several caravans and motor homes. the road leading to the sight is a little narrow but can fit two cars passing with one towing a caravan, the surrounding area around the sight is its best feature you are in the middle of the forest its self. its about 20mins walk into brockenhurst were there are several pubs and restraints to eat , also has a tescos express and a co-op. there is a small car park behind co-op and one opposite along side of tescos. the site its self has become very popular over the last few years and i find now have to book up a long time in advance. its very popular with people who own dogs as some of the best walks around . there is not a lot for young children on the sight .the shop in reception is very basic but its the same as most on sight shops you get . one thing we did notice on our recent visit is late at night about 2 or 3 in the morning there were deer on sight so there must be a hole in the fence some were. so just be aware . has various food vans visit the sight during the week monday pizza , tuesday chilli van , wednesday fishing chip van this one is very popular so get in early ,.and friday we were there was a new burger stand that sold pulled pork and beef burgers

Excellent spot for exploring New Forest

We are on a road trip through the New Forest and this is the perfect location right in the centre of the action. Stayed for 2 nights but could have stayed longer if had not already booked the next stop. Beautiful setting with ponies and deer just next door. Loads of space to walk our pooches and the woodland is amazing to explore. Brockenhurst is a nice half day where the ponies roam free. Site is quiet, very clean and staff lovely. Enjoy!

Well worth a visit

Absolutely love this site. It does get very busy during the school holidays but if you can get there any other time it’s fantastic. Right in the heart of the forest a short drive/cycle from Brockenhurst. Facilities are good and the grounds kept nice. As with lots of sites there is always one warden that goes power crazy and this site certainly has one female warden who thinks she’s bees knees. Other then that all other staff are very polite and welcoming.

Above and beyond!

My awning got stuck and I was unable to wind it in. I eventually resigned myself to having to pay someone to come and fix it, so I went to reception to ask if they knew of anyone locally. Peter, the warden, said he'd have a look himself and brought step ladders and WD40. Between us (lots of pulling, pushing and winding), we managed to sort it out. Peter not only got me out of a fix, he undoubtedly saved me lots of money. Peter said it was "part of the job". It was kind of him to say that, but he went above and beyond his job!

Nice but

A really nice site but in 43 years of caravaning I have never been on a site with so many dogs barking constantly. This has been going on now for nearly a week now and it totally spoils the holiday.

Gaps in hedges.

Black Knowl is a lovely site managed by welcoming wardens. The forest is literally all around you on this busy little oasis of CAMC members. We're currently here on the hedgerow perimeter looking in on the serviced pitches with a small hedgerow behind them. With reference to another review on here (Warning!), the reviewer doesn't really explain that the breaks in the hedgerow are lined up with the firebreaks between pitches, therefore anyone wishing to mow the grass or walk through the gaps is not trespassing on your rented gravel pitch. To insinuate that members who use the access do not respect their fellow members is wrong. This is a lovely site, please don't be put off.

Short break with friends

This is a well run, peaceful site with very friendly, helpful wardens who were easy to chat and laugh with. Facilities were immaculate and well placed. We had a lovely, relaxing couple of days with friends enjoying the walk to Brockenurst, encountering the ponies and rounding it all off with a couple of bbq’s. We didn’t take advantage of the food vans but certainly would have if we’d stayed longer. All in all a very positive experience.

"Warning"

Have been a Caravan Club member for 30 years, we have visited the Black Knowl site many times. However since the site and toilet block were upgraded together with many more 'serviced' pitches being added; please be aware that the new hedge row between pitches 94 to 101 and 112 to 117 have 1.5m gaps clearly marked by timber posts, that allow pedestrians going to and from the toilet block, dog walkers and yes adult cyclists! to cut through your pitch. What happened to the good mannered caravaners who respected the privacy of their fellow campers pitches. Come on Caravan Club you must realise the gaps so clearly indicated in the hedge rows are an open invitation to encourage 'pathways' across pitches.
