Extended Stay

Not long back from our stay at Blackpool South, we initially booked for two nights but ended up staying for seven. We found the wardens helpful ,and they kept the toilet block in a clean condition. The dog area is very small but it’s somewhere they can do their business if you make it in time! (A dog friendly area on the beach can be found South of the glitter ball past the tram terminus). We will definitely return. Dougie Donald

Fantastic Team and stay

Lovely warm, genuine welcome from the 2 North East gents. We needed some assistance about an hour later and they were more than helpful. The site was very well maintained, toilets spotless by the people cleaning them, sadly some fellow customers are not as clean! One of our best experiences at a club site. Keep going guys. Many thanks. Ali & Jo

Reception Staff

This is a lovely site marred by the reception staff who take enormous pleasure in turning customers away who have the temerity to turn up 5 minutes earlier than 1pm. No one can guarantee just how long it takes to get to site. But your customers do their best. Then to be greeted by reception staff who taint the start of a holiday by being dictatorial and rude is no recommendation for the Caravan Club. I think some customer service training would be applicable. They allow no flexibility whatsoever. This site requires flexibility because the entrance to the site is on a narrow lane with a calming measure near the entrance. The results of their actions causes problems on the Lane outside the site where at 1pm there is then a long queue waiting to get in and other road users find it difficult. This is on a daily basis. Once on site it is very pleasant, well maintained and clean and the wardens are very helpful. The toilets and showers are spotless BUT in the Ladies heating is a problem. Not once during a recent stay did I find a warm radiator no matter what time of the day or night. It was quite the talking point when braving a shower. The thermostat showed between 18 and 19 degrees. But it was frequently colder inside the Ladies than outside. And certainly a lot cooler than the 18 degrees in our caravan. Apparently the Mens facilities were warm bordering on hot!!

Unfriendly staff.

Upon arrival the staff were rude and unfriendly. We arrived at 12.55pm, new to the site and area so wasn't sure if we could park or turn around on the narrow road on which the site is situated. We have a large motorhome so decided it would be safer to pull in since we were only 5 minutes early. After being scowled at I went into reception to check in, only to be lectured about the arrival time, they were so rude and it wasn't a pleasant start to our holiday. I was spoken to like a naughty child! I think some of your wardens need a lesson in customer service.

No allowances, after 8pm

No allowances, after 8pm under no circumstances and told again under no circumstances could you enter before 1pm even though you have booked the day before. I understand it's your job! But it's our holiday and the late was out of our control.

Site in need of improvement

Having just stayed on this site for 10 days while in Blackpool, my wife and I were dissapointed with several aspects and facilities which were below the usual C&MHC standards 1, Firstly the toilet blocks are very tired and in need of an update 2, All shower curtains have been removed along with stools (not sure if it's because of Covid) meaning the entire shower floor becomes wet when used and no where to sit down. 3, The barriers on the entrance before 1pm are blocked by a large sign telling new arrivals that access to the site is after 1pm, though this is site policy it is very difficult for existing residents to return to the site before 1pm as the sign blocks easy access to the entrance especially for larger towcars and motorhomes. We also had a very unusual occurrence while staying at the site one morning. Three young 3/4 grown bullocks managed to wander onto the site, walking around between cars, caravans, awnings and motorhomes. When the warden's were notified I was told that they were OK and were quite calm! and they were aware and the farmer was on his way. I expected that they would attend and keep an eye on these very large animals to stop them from doing any damage, but was thoroughly disappointed that only after an hour or so did any of the warden's come out to see what was happening. After a few moments leaving to allow these animals to continue wandering around, it was only some of the other residents and I that tried to keep them in the corner of the site and without our intervention damage could have been caused. After 2+ hours the animals were finally loaded into a trailer by the farmer and taken away and the site barriers opened again to allow access and exit once more. Though I am aware that this might not be the usual job of the warden's and that dealing with large farm animals can be very frightening that they might have done more to avoid the potential damage to residents property than they actually did.

Loved our stay & lovely wardens too!

We stayed here with friends so we could go to the British Country Music Festival, see the illuminations and catch up with family in Lytham. Thoroughly enjoyable stay, good large pitches, lovely site, it was a taxi ride in to Blackpool for us as it was a bit of a walk but we also took our bikes and enjoyed cycling miles along the sea front to the Tower! Special shout out to all four wardens (we think it was Lesley, Paul, Glen and Julie but apologies if we’ve got the names wrong!) they couldn’t have been more helpful, accommodating, welcoming and friendly. Would definitely recommend.

No complaints

I've read some pretty poor reviews of this site and have decided to defend the wardens and the site! Some of the comments about the position of the site and the condition of the approach road may be valid, but cannot be changed by wardens. Road noise also at one end of the site could be an issue, but take the wardens' advice and choose the quieter end of the site, also away from the children's play area, which for me was more of an issue than the road. I don't agree about the upkeep of the site, the landscaping and bins etc were all fine. I do think the toilets need a refresh and I would prefer larger drive-over grille for motorhome waste rather than smaller lids with handles which I dislike. The barriers made me feel safe rather than paranoid. We enjoyed three quiet nights here, walked into Blackpool one day, got a cab home. Got the bus to Lytham another day. All peaceful throughout and met lots of pleasant people. Don't be put off by some comments or some apparent dodgy visitors which can turn up anywhere. Give it a try and judge yourself. We enjoyed it and whilst I wouldn't stay there for my main holiday I would happily stay again if in the area.

My least favourite site.

Let's be honest. The main reason you would stay here is because Blackpool and Lytham St Ann's are nearby. When you walk out the front gate there is a busy pot holed road , a field opposite, some hedges, and a roundabout down the road. So no where pretty to walk or see. There is an industrial estate nearby. And there is a lot of noise from traffic. So location not great. So this site for us was purely functional as we had something to do in St Ann's. Once inside its similar to a lot of other sites, maybe better, maybe worse??? It has been said the toilet block needs updating . Probably too small. The site was well enough kept and the wardens were helpful when we had a problem with kids on bikes circling round and round our caravan and riding over our electric hookup. It's a bit disconcerting that there are double barriers on the main gate at night. It didn't make me feel safe. Who are they stopping coming in??? Read other reviews. So for us, it was a functional 3 night stop over. There is no chance we would ever go there for a proper holiday.
