Stay for the location NOT the site

Just had a week at Bolton Abbey. This site is in a wonderful location for visiting the beautiful Upper Wharfedale. Really a 5 star for location doesn't do it justice. As a result the site is extremely popular.  We arrived Sunday 16th and stayed for the full week. On arrival we had first the clear our pitch of dog poo....then we could set up. That was certainly a first...or maybe we'd been lucky, A stroll round the dog walk later with our own dog and it was clear that we have members who refuse to scoop the poop. The site has around 50 hardstanding pitches. Sun is in short supply due to large over hanging trees. The toilet block is a little busy at peak times...one could say inadequate. As a result of its popularity it wasn't up to the normal high standard of cleanliness, you get used to on club sites. First time I have had a gripe at a site - honest. So will really now vent my spleen ;-)   **Kept awake at night with several dogs barking...turned out chief culprit had 4 large dogs - what is that about? Surely there should be a limit? ** One pitch had 12 occupants, that is large motorhome and three x 2 man tents...did I say this was a popular site? The users of the pitch were no problem at all - I admired their efficiency when serving dinner...but are you allowed to sleep in tents - If so maybe I'll follow suit? ** Finally would have been nice of the warden to re attach my EHU after he had mowed the lawn. If only to save my ice cream...my neighbour was suitably unimpressed as he had been un-hooked too. Finally - though it wasn't a problem for us. A notice telling you to be off by 11:00? Think that is a bit out of order, especially given that you cannot arrive before 1pm.
