Sorry but I have to repeat what others have said. You come away to relax. You don’t quite get that here. You always feel like you’re being watched and going to be scolded for doing something wrong. The tone was set as soon as we arrived when I was told to pull our van forward right up to the stop line. I, in my cavalier manner had put the handbrake in around 3 feet shy of the line. That aside, the location is lovely for river walks but it’s a drive to decent pubs. It was very windy when we were there and the trees shield the site nicely. The downside to lots of trees is limited sun. I concede you can’t have it both ways though. It was a toss up between here and Hawes. We saw that site on our travels and think we preferred Bolton Abbey due to the river walks with our dog
