Lovely Lakeland Site

Enjoyed a lovely five night stay. Weather very mixed one day a deluge then lovely warm sunshine, but hey it's the Lakes! Great location for hikes long or short, a few minutes to lake shore. Great for dogs. Although we didn't use the bus it stops right outside the site. Although the site is very wooded we managed to pitch on a fairly open one, I suppose in Summer you would have to pick your pitch carefully if you like the sunshine ( that's hoping we get some). Loads of birdlife, although we didn't see the squirrels. Short drive to Keswick, although within easy walking distance . We were aware no toilets etc, but on speaking to the Wardens it would appear that not everyone reads the site facilities. Great, extremely friendly helpful wardens , keeping the site very tidy, with a small shop which sells items you may need.  The only very minor gripe I have is whatever is on the floor, a mixture of forest floor and small chippings is awful for getting inside the van etc. Never really had this problem before.  As mentioned in earlier post the drive in through Grange is a bit nail biting, but as we travelled on a sunny Bank Holiday we probably picked a bad day for cars being parked. We left early on a Saturday and the road was clear. We will definitely be returning to this site soon and probably many times.
