Good for families

Good site 67/100

This campsite is set in one of the great walking areas of Britain. In addition to walking there are free museums such as the Big Pit, narrow boat cruises on the beautiful Brecon canal  and the scenic mountain railway. The campsite access is very easy being just off the A40. The downside to that being that there is quite a bit of road noise. Wi-fi is very good as is satellite reception. Vodafone was only GPRS but calls coud be made and received without all of the annoying break up of reception experienced in other remote areas. The wardens here have a relaxed attitude leaving the campers to get on with enjoying themselves. There is a well stocked shop  to supplement the Morrisons in nearby Brecon city centre. There are very may fully serviced pitches and  they are of a very good size. The campsite is very dog friendly and there are excellent walks available locally and in the Beacons. The only grouses I have related to our fellow campers on this site. There seems to be an almost flagrant disregard these days for the rules. Many people were driving at more than the 5mph limit. Dogs were often seen off leads not just in the dog walk but actually in the camp site itself.  In the dog walk which is great there was dog dirt in several places. Being woken up before seven on a Sunday morning by barking dogs was no laughing matter either. Overall the site is very good but a shame about some of the campers!
