Good for families

Good for access to Brecon but...................

There is a lack of choice if you want to stay close to Brecon so to moan about the proximity of the road is a bit pointless, but it is a noisy site almost all over the site. As usual facilities are spotless, there is a large children's play area (with equipment) and a "better than most" dog walking area. Walking to Brecon town and to a local pub are all within easy reach. However, there is more white paint on the roads than on a town centre carpark with a one way system which leaves you dizzy. Following a not very friendly "welcome" we were told to look for a red marker pitch, but not where there were any free spaces - 2 loops around the one way system including an exit barrier and re-admittance required to find anything. Can the booking system not reveal the remaining vacant pitches? We didn't need a full service pitch, but this was the only option available on booking despite there being a number of empty standard and grass pitches on site. All pitches are highly regimented with no inter-pitch planting to offer some privacy or soften the image. Notices everywhere telling (not asking) you what you can and can't do. PS: We've just paid £12 less for a 3 day stay than for the 2 days at Brecon; OK the facilities are not the same standard, but the site location (lakeside), the welcome and the ambiance are far superior.
