Very "Hard" Standings

Recently had another enjoyable 5 nights stay at Brighton, it's one of our favourite sites on the club's network. Agree with the comments about the huge and sharp edged potholes on the approach road and the foxes that nightly try to raid the dustbins by the toilet blocks. The wardens have attached weights to the underside of the dustbin lids so make sure you place them back on properly and don't leave rubbish at the side of the bins to avoid the wardens having a not very pleasant morning job cleaning up the mess! The club information states that they have finished de-compacting the hard standings. This was a major gripe of mine a few years ago and the reception even replaced once some of my bent pegs after a particularly difficult episode putting up our awning. Of all the club sites we have visited Brighton held for many years our title of "Hardest hard standings we have been on". So who's the new holder of the title ..... that's right it's still Brighton! Under a couple of inches of loose stones the ground was still like concrete on our pitch, (number 151), four wrecked pins, several slightly bent but probably ok to continue using on softer ground and most of the pegs only half driven into the ground hoping that the winds didn't get too strong!!! Apparently the wardens know about this issue so why hasn't the club got the contractors back in to do the job properly that they've been paid for? Another issue was that the tv booster on our post didn't work so we couldn't watch tv as the standard aerial is next to useless in the valley where the site is located. We spoke to one of the wardens about this who said that they knew about this problem and several tv boosters around the site weren't working. Apparently the contractors were coming on site during the week we left to fix the problem. He said that the office had a list of the ones not working, but nothing was said when we booked in and it was too late after our awning was erected to move pitch. Other than the comments above we had a great time in Brighton as usual and will be back soon.
