Quiet haven in the megapolis of Greater Manchester

Nice little site with pleasant and interesting walks adjoining. Bit of a struggle getting through Bury if you hit the rush-hour and some noise from the motorway (which has to be accessed through town despite it passing quite close by.) Warm welcome. Will use it again.

Great site catering for all tastes

People laugh at us when we say we are going caravanning to Bury (I think it is because we only live a few miles away and people have the misconception that you need to drive for miles to find somewhere nice). However this site is far removed from the hustle and bustle of the town which in reality is only a few hundred meters away. The site facilities are of the usual high standards we have all come to expect from the caravan club, we loved the "help yourself" herb garden provided by the wardens which shows the lengths the wardens go to provide over and above what is the norm. The country park provides loads of open space to do whatever it is you like to do in an open space but includes walking, running, orienteering, canoeing, climbing, cycling, geocaching, wildlife watching, trim trail to name but a few all of which are well catered for on the doorstep. oh and a great pub too! Public transport links are a couple of hundred yards from the site entrance and from Bury you can get to Manchester City Centre on The Metrolink (tram) in less than half an hour. We call this the Meerkat site as every hour or so almost every caravan or motorhome door flies open or people get up out of their chairs and peer (meerkat like) in the direction of the railway line as one of the classic steam trains puffs by with children (and some adults too) waving furiously from the train as it passes. I cant think of anything negative to say about this site it seems to cater for almost everyones taste. Childrens activity days can be arranged at the adjacent outdoor activity centre and judging from the squeals of delight coming from the canoe pond when we were there they seem to have a great time.

Clean and friendlty site

We were at this site in September 2015 and had a friendly welcome and pitch was good.Toilets and facilities on this site are really good, site well worth a visit. We visited the East Lancs Steam railway on the Caravan Club days out offer of 2 for 1 and we had a great day riding up and down on the steam train. Getting off to visit villages when we felt like it, good day out.

TOB Stage 2

Firstly the directions supplied by the Caravan Club we found confusing and could be improved.  Site is lovely and flat with steam train going past.  Set in country park, which also seems to be a local dog walk.  The day we arrived there was an event taking place in the country park for two days with a small fun fair, it had very loud music but not that many people.  this was a bit of a damper to a lovely weekend.   It is close to town centre but also close to the motorway. Toilet blocks were clean but are getting tired.

Good location for a City break

We stayed here for three nights in June this year and have used it several other times. It is convenient for us for breaking our journey when travelling down South but it is also in a fantastic location for a city break into Manchester. The public transport links into the city from Bury is great .We are booked again later in the year to visit the Christmas markets in Manchester. Burrs country park is on the doorstep and is fantastic for walking dogs.

Maiden Voyage!

This was my first experience of a Caravan Club site, in our new motor home! I found the Wardens very pleasant and helpful indeed and the site itself and facilities were immaculately clean and tidy. There was an Activity Center (kayaking, climbing etc) immediately outside the site entrance, and also a lovely pub (The Brown Cow) that serves excellent food in matching-sized servings! I enjoyed the visit and will be returning again!

Buckleys break

on three occasions in a week i had to queue for gents toilet. 4 toilets is not enough when site is full. Why not make 5 of the privacy cubicles into toilets?I have no complaints otherwise everywhere immaculate staff great etc.

First time stay

Our first stay on those site. Friendly helpful staff, well maintained. A pub on the doorstep. What more could you want. Would be nice to be able to book a weekend without having to book years in advance. Would love to go back.
