Pleasant visit, end of June 2023

Site is lovely, plenty of pitch space and we were able to pick our pitch as there were loads spare. Quick check in and staff are friendly and helpful. Small shop at reception for the 'essentials' but no beans :( Also, no WIFI on site due to the upgrades that are taking place. Late night arrivals can pitch up opposite reception for the night (EHU provided) so you can book in early doors. It rained while we were there and was very windy, but there was just enough calm weather for it to be enjoyable, Phone signal and 4G (EE and O2) is poor due to the quarry walls, so streaming TV was buffering quite a bit, but we had excellent digital TV signal due to the satellite dish on the roof. If you are in a motorhome and need to get into Buxton, you can get a taxi for £7 but they only take cash, so we had to phone for another firm who took card and that was £9.80 (£3.50 a mile) each way. You could walk it in about 1 hour but it is up hill and down dale so we didn't bother. Pizza and fish and chip vans on site, but again only taking cash (The chippy van has a card machine but it looked not to be working) Make sure you have cash on you when you come here!!! Facilities were nice and clean and there are plenty of them. Good toilets and showers, lots of waste, water and CDPs Great site, shame about the weather. if it had been sunny and hot, the local walks would have been brilliant. We will visit again in the future for a short break, if we are in the area on our travels. (We came to visit family who were staying in Buxton, but they had to cancel due to Covid, so we carried on regardless - Shame we could not get together!)
