Amazing place

We are Italian on holidays; stayed just one day. Lovely place, easy to find and reach with a motorhome. Well located not so far to Cambridge downtown where we went by bike. Good facilities, quiet place, nice hardstanding pitch. Very friendly staff, we were told useful advices and we were lent a city map with bike paths. Amazing place to stay in.

Quirky little site.

Wardens pleasant. Site well kept. Perfect for a Cambridge visit. Not sure it would be the best site for children re the layout. It was quiet.

Helpful and polite staff, scruffy and tired site

Stayed here for the first time. Nice welcome from the staff who were friendly throughout. Showers etc were good. The site however was very tired looking and in desperate need of a make over, walls fallen down, only one water supply we could find etc. The location in the old quarry was not great, next to a housing estate and noise from a school. We have paid less for much higher standards at non club sites and would probably not stay here again

Good site but not very friendly staff

Good location and clean site. When signng in I asked a couple of questions but kept getting told it’s all on the sheet. I later found out it wasn’t all on the sheet. And at 11am when we were ready to go I realised that we hadn’t washed up breakfast things. I walked to the block with the dishes to find a rope across. I waited for some time and when the cleaner came out he put the rope back across and went to clean the men’s toilets. I went over explained the situation and apologised, and asked if I could nip in now and quickly wash up. He referred me to the allotted cleaning time. I asked if I could use the laundry room sink instead with no rope across, if I left it spotless, and he said absolutely not. Technically, of course he was right, the laundry room wasn’t for pots and the rope across would only be taken down at the allotted time, even if there was no one still cleaning in there. But a smile and him saying, ‘I’ll let you in to the dish area as you want to be on your way’, would have cost nothing as nobody else was about. This isn’t a site that goes the extra mile to keep clients happy, just does what it says on the tin and absolutely no more.

It’s so nice to stay at sites where the staff are friendly. We won’t be staying here again.

Not the most friendly of wardens ,

As we arrived we explained that we would like to stay an extra night , but were told that it would be possible but would have to move plots for the extra day , WHY ??? specific plots are not bookable !!!! sorry but this was not true or acceptable for us to be told when we arrive a untruth which gave us a restful night knowing we would have to move and not be able to put up our awning untill it was cleared up the next day ,as it was we were allowed to stay in the asigned plot the full 4 days but it is a shame as the site is very nice and in a perfect position one mile from a park and ride to the city Center . regards visitor from europe

A well rmanaged site

Ideally placed for visiting Cambridge with a bus stop a short walk away, this site has an interesting layout where plots are in small pockets giving a feel of privacy. The shower block is immaculately kept as is the rest of the site, indicative of the quality of the site management. We found the managers themselves to be unfailingly pleasant and helpful. Visited 2 nights in May 2018.

Great location

Lovely site - our third visit. Clean facilities and friendly wardens. Highly recommend The Red Lion in Cherry Hinton village, home cooked food - about another minute walk from the tired chain pub The Robin Hood.

safety concerns and very poor customer service after serious incidents

We stayed here so that I could have a flying lesson in a Tiger Moth at Duxford & we could use the buses into Cambridge - great location. The serious incidents we experienced have already been mentioned by another visitor to the site - "troublesome teenagers throwing stones over the fences and trees". On the first occasion fortunately we were not on site but our motorhome was damaged and the pitch littered with rocks. The perimeter fencing next to our pitch (43) had been breached and there was a well used path. The club management took no immediate action to protect us but they were very sympathetic! The following day we remained on site and "they" came back to have another go - I went into the trees and prevented this from happening - we could have ended up with serious head injuries had I not done so. There appeared to be a lot of talking going on with the regional manager but no action was taken to prevent entry to the site. As a 70 year old (with a new hip this year) I had to remove the debris from our motorhome roof and clean it followed by tidying up the pitch (we were told to leave it "as is") and it was me who contacted the police to report the incidents. Subsequent complaints to the club have been very poorly handled (insulting really) and we have not had a response regarding the safety and security (and risk assessment) policies and procedures that are in place. Not having had a satisfactory response I will be applying for compensation via the small claims court. Ruined holiday and very stressful, not to mention having the motorhome off the road whilst we are arranging for repairs to be carried out.

Summer holidays

Stayed here to visit Cambridge, lovely clean site and very friendly wardens, they do a marvelous job to say there is just the two of them. Showers are the usual cleanliness you expect and now have the radio playing. Easy 15 minutes bike ride into Cambridge and I can recommend the Mill on Mill lane (dogs encouraged) real ale and great food, overall a great stay if not a little hot.

Don't arrive late!

Usual Caravan & Motorhome Club standard but don’t expect to be let in if you arrive past 8pm! We were booked in last weekend but due to a hold-up on the M4 our SATNAV predicted an arrival time of 8:07pm. We called the site to explain and they said we would have to use one of the late-night arrival pitches. Sadly the warden was quite intransigent saying, in a very dead-pan and unfriendly manner, “Rules are rules – if you arrive past 8 you have to use the overnight pitch”. I realise it would be annoying to wardens if they kept having to open the barrier for people arriving late, but a few minutes – really? Not friendly at all! Isn’t this a club for the benefit of its members? This was just what you don’t want to hear after a 5 hour journey in heavy traffic on a hot Friday afternoon. On the brighter side we found a much better privately owned site the same distance from Cambridge. It was cheaper, just as clean and with a far more friendly owner who was quite happy to let us in after 8pm. We stayed in Cherry Hinton once last year which is why I can report that the facilities are up to the usual club standard but the site itself is in an old quarry so there’s lots of shade and apart from a few of the pitches you do feel as though you’re in a bit of a hole. We won't be staying there again.
