excellent site

This site,I thought, was excellent for the mature couple without kids.meticulously clean shower block with radio. Although we were told on arrival that the shower block was shut at certain times for maintanance (10 til 5 pm) it was no problem for us, just adapt. Nothing for kids so should be an adult only site. Overall it the type of site we prefer

Good site, poor communication from club re closure of facilities.

Overall this is a lovely site, although the main road which the site runs off resembles a race track at times.  The footpath alongside the road is narrow and inconsiderate drivers pass within a few inches, so take care.   We have though one criticsm and that relates to the shower block and toilets being out of use for seven hours each day 31 March to 2 April and being charged full price.  Although the website now shows information warning that the showers would be closed, that information was not told to us when we booked.  We accept that it may have been essential work but the club should have contacted members who had pre-booked and informed them. Had we known, we would certainly have changed our booking.  The club had a duty to inform members but failed to do so.  Neither were we told by the wardens when we arrived on site.   The first indication was on the morning of 31 March when a notice appeared in the shower block telling customers of the closure.  To add insult to injury there was a notice telling customers they could leave earlier than planned, but would forfeit one day's fee in line with club rules.  It is for this reason we give the facilities three stars. Ie due to the lack of facilities. It is a shame that we write a negative review but in the main the negativity is against the club and wardens for not communicating correctly.

Excellent location for Cambridge and surrounding area

We stayed at this site for a week in March and found plenty of things to do.  It is a few minutes walk from the bus stop which has buses running into Cambridge every 10 mins.  Also visited a couple of National Trust properties, Wimpole Hall and Anglesey Abbey.  Both definitely worth a visit. Ely is not far away either.  Cathedral and Oliver Cromwell's house really interesting.   Wardens on the site were very welcoming and friendly.  Very knowledgeable on Cambridge.

good location for visiting Cambridge

Firstly, if you want to visit Cambridge this site is in an excellent location. Bus to town every ten minutes, 15 minute walk from the gate. Facilities are immaculate. Apart from that, we found the site a little bit soul-less; possibly because most people are out all day. There is no play area, so not the best for young families and the walk to the pub or the bus stop is on a narrow footpath on a narrow and quite busy access road. Very friendly welcome.

Good site

A pleasant site managed by excellent wardens.  We were welcomed cheerfully and helpfully. Mr Warden interrupted his work to help and advise us when we had a problem with our electrics. Showers beautifully clean.

Excellent weekend

This was our first trip away in 2015. We found the site to be excellent and clean, and the wardens were very friendly and helpfull.  There is so much to do locally and great dog walks in the nature reserve opposite the site.  There are plenty off pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance. I would highly recommend the short drive to Grantchester Meadows which is a great walk along the River Cam (great for children or dogs to run wild) followed by refreshments at local pubs or tea rooms.

A Good Choice

We really enjoyed this site, the location is very good with a brilliant bus service into Cambridge, but if you are so inclined,a 45 minute walk is a good option.I was surprised to find the hard standing could only be accessed after crossing the grass from the road, that's fine providing the grass doesn't cut up too much.No complaints otherwise though,we will certainly return.

Beware which pitch you choose..

Due to the way the pitches are layed out there are several meters of grass leading from the road before you reach the hardstanding of your pitch. I was told that due to the site being an area of special scientific interest they were not able to tarmac from pitch to the road..which seems a crazy idea particular in the winter. My car got stuck on the grass and caused a real mess and I noted that other pitches were turning brown and muddy... Especially with children, the last thing you want is a trail of mud leading up the caravan steps. We were lucky; we switched pitches after finding the remaining free pitch which had direct access from the road without the need to go "off road". Other than that a very quiet, clean site and ideal for Cambridge, Duxford Imperial war Museum (well worth a visit!!) and only an hour into London by car. Parking all day for £11 off Edgeware road near Marble Arch. We did think of getting the train but the prices were ridiculus... No play area for the kids but that didnt worry ours as they played out safely on their bikes.

First Time

Very pleasant winter visit. Bit muddy round our pitch due to very heavy rain but loved the layout of the site. Facilities excellent as always and pleasant, helpful wardens. Location excellent for bus travel into Cambridge and only very short walk to pub with very good food at the end of the road. Couldn't fault it. We will be back.
