We arrived at site with our caravan at about 6.30pm There are three barriers facing you. One is for use by vehicles returning to the site, one wider one for outfits leaving and a similar wider one for new arrivals. I pulled up to the new arrivals barrier. The warden came out, told me where my pitch was, gave me a card to operate the barrier and then told me to reverse away from the new arrivals barrier and enter via the returning vehicles barrier using the card. He took my membership card from me and said that we could settle up tomorrow.. It was not a simple task to reverse back and the only apparent reason for me doing so was so that he wouldn't have to open the office to take my payment and open the new arrivals barrier! When we drove to our pitch (Number 6) I sited the caravan using our motor mover. If we didn't have one it would have been very difficult given the narrow nature of the access road, the narrow pitch and the fact that there was an enclosed refuse area opposite the pitch. Having moved the caravan to the extreme edge of the pitch I put our vehicle on the opposite edge. there was only 3-4 feet between the caravan and our vehicle. Also with the caravan being on the edge of the pitch I could not place either the fresh water barrel nor the grey waste container properly flat on the ground as there was steeply sloping grass abutting that edge of the pitch. It meant that on a couple of occasions I nearly slipped over on the sloping grass when tending to the water containers. I definitely would not have been able to get the caravan off the pitch due to the enclosed refuse area opposite if I hadn't had a motor mover. When booking I filled in the length of mu caravan and I would imagine that anyone with a similar sized vehicle would have had the same problems as me. The pitch was only really suitable for a motorhome. I feel strongly that that the Caravan Club should check how the pitches are allocated because I could have been in serious difficulties. The washrooms on the site are excellent. We found them clean and warm. If I return I will definitely try to phone and book a pitch that is suitable for my outfit and hope that I might get a warmer welcome
