What a lovely place.

I stayed with my Motorhome and 2 greyhounds for 2 days over the most stormy and hurricane blasted weekend in February 2016. Luckily the pitch was nestled in the bottom of a quarry which I think protected us from the most violent winds. We (the dogs and I) enjoyed exploring the dog walks around the quarry 'walls' . An exciting woodland trail that climbs and climbs and goes through the lime kilns that the area is famous for. Just opposite is another Nature Reserve Quarry which is slowly reverting back to nature and short and interesting walk and handy for the early morning walk of the day. As I have a motorhome, driving into Cambridge was not an option, neither was the Park and Ride which was some distance away and only accessed by walking along a road without any pavement and fast traffic...However!....all was good as there are 2 buses that run into Cambridge from a bus stop 5 minute walk away in the opposite direction. Even on Sunday the Citi3 still runs every 20 minutes into Cambridge, and what a lovely place to visit. The Sunday I went there was a lovely artisan market in the centre and all the shops and churchs etc were open. The couple in reception were very friendly and welcoming, and I left my phone in the toilets and after a momentary panic, went to reception and it had been handed in. Very quiet and peaceful in the sunken location, no flooding and a very dry environment because of the well drained chalk, so good for dry paws on the dogs. Will return and visit again soon.
