Brilliant Bank Holiday

We weren't disappointed by this site this Easter weekend 2019 with its lovely aspect and easy access to Carsington Water and couldn't believe how big the site was, given you are surrounded by trees, above which the starts shone brightly every night. Felt there weren't enough recycling bins near the shower block to accommodate demand, though as this was a hot weekend perhaps more drinks were taken as visitors enjoyed the convivial atmosphere. As a general gripe and not confined to this site, it would help to know what can be recycled locally and isn't it beeter to have glass separated out? We used our bikes to reach the High Peak Trail which unfortunately can't be travelled its full length at present since a lorry demolished a bridge, but enjoyed Middelton Top and found Wirksworth charming - its heritage centre is most interesting. On the second day cycled across to the Tissington Trail and followed this to Ashbourne. Just beware if you're not used to cycling distances there are lots and lots of hills .... long ones. Beautiful countryside though and the reservoir is idyllic with plenty to do. Crich Tramway museum was visited on our way home, about 20 minutes drive from the site, and well worth a visit especially if there's an event on too, as there was over Easter.
