Stayed 2 nights as not sure of the area. Really friendly welcome from the warden. The area & site are hilly. Lots of pine trees on site so plenty of shade on hot days. Some pitches had views of the area. The facilities were very clean. Carsington Water is easy to reach via a path. Maps available in the Information room. Thanks for the recommendation to cycle anticlockwise if cycling the whole lake - to get the difficult hills out of the way first. I struggled with my e-bike! Another option is to cycle clockwise half way round & return back - not so hilly & there was an ice cream van at Sheepwash car park. A fish & chip van came on Wednesday evening. Gorgeous chips!
