Great location

We received a wonderful warm welcome on a beautiful site with lots of colourful flowers by the entrance and office. The site is in a great location for walking into the hills and visiting the caverns. Only half a mile down the road there are many bars and places to eat. We had a lovely weekend during the middle of September.

lovely stay

I stayed for three nights in early September and both myself/dog had a great time.  Old Nags Head made us feel welcome and can be recommended.  The wardens were welcoming and helpful, I had an excuse to pop in when going to the dog walk to buy cakes and fresh bread, nice touch!  We did plenty of walks and I too was impressed by the flower display. Praise to the wardens who work hard and were very pleasant.  Look forward to another stay. Thanks.

Fantastic location

Castleton is a fabulous location with lots or walks, cycling, outdoor activities and pubs nearby. The pitches, layout and wardens are up to the usual high standard for the Caravan Club but the site is let down by the facilities.  The WIFI was incredibly slow - We pretty much gave up on it and tried to watch telly instead. Unfortunately, the TV signal wasn't particularly good, so we decided best bet would be to walk to one of the very many local pubs. Sadly when we went to get showered, we found the water pressure was incredibly low All the above said, we do like the site but I think we’d probably try one of the other sites in the Peak District before we go back again

Just Right!!!

Only had van for just over a month. Been here twice, and will be visiting again. Great facilities and immaculately clean. Usual CC standards I gather. However, what really makes a difference to us is people. Our experience with site wardens was superb. Friendly, helpful and made us feel very welcome. Thank you Margaret, Alan and team.

CASTLETON STAY

Great site if you are a walker with easy access to Castleton. Flowers at the entrance beautiful. A little scary walking to Castleton along the very narrow public footpath near the site - if you are taking kids/dogs then we would suggest you keep an eye on them. Our pitch was behind the toilet block and we could her the doors slamming inside the block - particularly annoying in the middle of the night. Overall the site is very welcoming and good and we will stay again - but away from the toilet block.

Another great site

Been a number of times to Castleton, always clean and very well kept. Excellent small but convenient dog walk and site close to centre of village where there are many shops, cafe and pubs. Hope close by is a lovely village with a nice walk from site across fields etc. Many walks from site and the caverns in the area, all walkable from sight worth a visit. Give it go yo will not be disappointed.

An overnight stop

Pleasant site in a good location.  Busy so we had to park up close to the road - a bit noisy. Clean dog walk amongst some trees. Lots of dog friendly pubs nearby. Pleasant walk (but steep!) to Peveril Castle. Only pitches without awning when we booked but OK for 1 night.  Would come back again for a few days but only if awning pitch available.

CASTLETON CARAVAN CLUB SITE

I stayed on this site with my husband for the August bank holiday. I have stayed on this site many times and always have praise for the location cleanliness and staff but this time is something different; When we first approached the site I was amazed at the beauty of the reception area the flowers are beautiful and credit goes to the wardens for such a wonderful display. The work and time gone into these flowers is amazing. The site is excellent and the staff are wonderful and sometimes not appreciated as much as they should be so let me give them credit to the hard work that they do they all deserve a gold star WELL DONE CASTLETON SITE

Castleton - an amazing site

Travelled here for a three night break early September and the other reviews describe the site very well. The wardens are very friendly and helpful and are always busy around the site which is kept very clean and tidy. The flower baskets on the reception building and around the site create a very good impression. Excellent location for a quick walk (1/2 mile) into Castleton with its many public houses and Blue John jewellers. Good location for exploring the nearby Ladybower Reervoir and connecting dams and also for the Blue John mines and old lead mines. We were not able to visit these this time due to having our dog with us so a return trip is on the cards. The one negative - my wife complained that there was a fairly unpleasant smell from the shower drains in the ladies but the wardens were made aware of it so i would expect it would be dealt with in the usual professional manner! Mobile phone reception is good (on EE) for calls and text, limited internet but the site has wifi if you're needing a surfing fix! TV reception using caravan antenna was good - also manaed to spend a damp afternoon getting my mobile satellite system working - apologies if it looked a little like Jodrell Bank.
