We loved it!

We stayed here as a family with a toddler for 4 days over the Easter break this year. The site was easy to access and we managed to get a great pitch. All was clean and tidy and well maintained. It was an easy off road walk into Cheddar with Tesco Express on route...as well as a few Pubs :) Loads of walking and exploring can be done from this site. Just do not get there too early as there is only space for about 1 and a half rigs before you would be blocking the entrance road which is narrow with no passing places. Thankfully we got there at about 1430 and got straight on and had no issues at all throughout our stay. Staff as usual were very friendly and helpful Thank you!

Fantastic location for walking into town using the pathways

Stayed for 3 nights, Very nice large pitches with plenty of space, Walked the gorge and used the pathways to walk everywhere, very quiet at night, no noise from the road, very friendly staff with a smile. Fowl language can be heard from your football club next door,

Great site and location

We spent two nights here last weekend. I've not given full stars to a couple of things as we are a couple and the toilet/shower block is currently closed for refurbishment (we knew this when we booked and it did not affect our stay). We had a nice, welcome from the wardens, with information about the local area and transport etc. We really enjoyed our couple of days, it's a lovely site, well located next to the town so in easy walking distance of shops etc. We did the Cheddar Gorge walk which is just amazing with fantastic views. We had fish and chips in Tuckers which has a restaurant as well as take away, thoroughly recommended.

Excellent Location

This site was in a excellent location for visiting Cheddar gorge and the surrounding area - local walks and Wells (by bus). It was spotlessly clean and the staff were hugely friendly. Additionally, it was very quiet (to be expected at this time of year) which was great.

Lovely site.

This was our first break away with our new motorhome. Everything was just perfect from the friendly check in, to helpful advice re pitches. It was also helpful to be told to turn left out of the site to walk to the village thereby avoiding the narrow bridge with no footpath and fast traffic. We were so comfortable that we opted to book for a second night which was perfectly straightforward. Now if only we could order good weather!

Good Break

We booked Cheddar as it was a fairly short haul from Cornwall and travelling on Sundays means we avoid the horrendous traffic jams. We did have to queue to get in but it was not too much bother although I suspect when it is busy it can be a problem as the access is limited and you could end up blocking those cars wishing the leave the site. Only a small number of grass pitches but we found a nice spot with plenty of space. It was however evident at times that the motorhome waste disposal point the other side of the exit barriers caused a bit of a tail back for everyone. The site however was very clean and tidy. The shower/toilet block was adequate although a bit dated and the 4 showers in the ladies and gents were very small. It was good to see that the site embraces recycling unlike so many CAMC sites. While we there in September the site was quiet and relaxing.. There is so much to do in the surrounding area. The walks from the site are great if you have a canine or an athletic runner. Market day in Wells is a must. Lots of food stalls and independent crafters and a walk around the cathedral (which is dog friendly) and the surrounding area is a must of you like that sort of thing. We did a walk around Bleadon Levels which was lovely and also went to Tickenham and walked up to Cadbury Camp where there are some fantastic views. We ate one night at the Bath Arms (dog friendly table) and had a really nice meal. The White Hart also had a nice garden that we sat out with the hound and had a couple of drinks. The Cheddar Ales tap room is an easy off road walk from the site and we went to one of their evening dos (the last of the season) when they had a band, hog roast and pizza van. The event was a popular choice with locals which probably says it all. I had read a couple scathing reviews before our visit but found the site in September to be quiet and relaxing which is what we wanted. We will definitely come back again for a short break as there is so much still for us to see and do. Oh and the Gorge is gorgeous but we only drove through it, although the athletic one of us and the dog ran up there along the top a couple of times.
