This may just be the perfect site

Stayed at many C&MC sites and in the main enjoyed them. However, there is usually a drawback: noise, pitches too close, too far to walk to a shop etc. Cheddar is just about perfect. Small, quiet, great views, friendly staff, well spaced pitches, easy and pretty walks to town, close to gorge and reservoir. Big plus was the church bells which ring distantly every quarter of an hour. They do not disturb but are redolent of old fashioned country life. On Sunday morning they burst into life with an 8 bell varying peal. Now clearly audible but a real pleasure to hear. Cheddar village is charming and has the advantage of a Tesco express and a larger Sainsbury tucked away in a side street so as not to spoil the village ambience. Running alongside the site is the Cheddar Yeo river which feeds the reservoir (a pleasant mile or so away and a couple of miles round). Didn't really have time to explore further this time. Will I be back? You bet your sweet bippy! In fact have already booked for a weekend in October. Highly recommended.
