Good for families

Great location. Shame (two of) the wardens aren’t family friendly!

We arrived at the site as two parties and were greeted by two wonderful wardens who made us feel welcome and offered great advice on where to pitch up with the outfits we have. That afternoon after getting set up, we passed a rugby ball around on the large corner grass plot between both of our vans, before the children went to play in the play area. The adults sat down after a long 4+ hour drive. We had music on quietly whilst we chatted amongst each other. At 7:15pm we were approached by a very rude lady who introduced herself as the site manager, stating that she could hear us from her caravan at the front of the site (which was impossible) and that we should be more respectful of the quiet times on site (which I later found out on the posters they erected in the toilets to be 9pm to 7am) and also that she had received complaints about footballs hitting people’s vans. We confirmed that at no point had we been playing football and no balls had hit our vans when we had been in between them, never mind any of our neighbours. We also apologised for any ‘noise’ and turned the music off. Without anything further said, she then walked off with her dog. What a lovely start to a 9 day, long awaited holiday! The following day whilst my wife waited to use the facilities a male warden also made a snide remark about a child who was bouncing a ball next to their caravan, stating that the parents should know that ‘such behaviour’ is not allowed on ‘this site’. For the remainder of the holiday we felt as if we or the children could not enjoy ourselves around our vans. All of our neighbours were very pleasant, so I do not believe there were ever any complaints. I believe that we were just seen playing with the ball between our vans and therefore the warden took it upon herself to have a pop at us to set her stance against two younger families. As every time I saw her chatting with older peoples with their dogs, she was full of smiles. It is a lovely site in a beautiful location within easy reach of all parts of snowdon and the north and north west coasts. The facilities are a little dated, but fine. Not sure of the point of the access code to the toilets though. The play area is small and there is no area suitable for ball games. I think this site would either be better run as an adult only site (as two of the four wardens made it clear they have no tolerance of children having fun) or they need to get new wardens to keep up with the times and realise that we are the next generation of caravanners and without us, the club will die with the older members!
