Mixed feelings

Friendly staff team and facilities clean, peaceful at night ( but expect a lot rain noise from trees). Nice walk into Coniston - top or bottom routes from site. Further from lake than realised so didn’t paddle board as too far to carry for us, but did have lovely swims from ‘ beach’ at bottom of campsite accessed through a busy camping field ( unsure if this is connected to site or not ). Food truck open every night in mid sept, didn’t partake but seemed busy enough. Now the but … Arrived to holiday 7 nights with friends, two double axle vans, multiple cul de sac type pitching area within the trees . Find your own pitch from few available despite getting there as advised 11am . So basically expected to drive round to find free pitch, which may or may not be free when you get there as we found pitches taken despite being told free at check in. With 2 large vans after a long drive - rubbish . Didn't get next to friends but in adjacent cul de sacs . To add insult to injury campervan came to pitch next to us parked wrong way round so their door side faced our awning for 5 nights , nice enough people but not our friends who we hoped to holiday next to ! Saw multiple vans driving round several times trying to find pitches having no doubt been directed to area at check in as we were , this was despite seeing several warden vehicles pass in set up time - surely they could note what is taken to keep check in desk ‘live’ . I know this no reservation find your pitch thing is a caravan club thing but it is not customer focussed and is a model that needs changing. Booked for next year on C&C club site in Keswick on fully serviced pitch , with friends next door . We work hard for our hols and could do without the uncertainty the C&MH club offers guests.

There is no right or wrong way round to pitch
