Durham, beautiful Durham

When reading the other reviews about this site and looking at the location I was anxious that the noise of the road would be a problem. It catagorically wasn't a problem. Yes there is some noise, but as a constant noise you soon zone it out. Open and sunny site, very level and situated perfectly for both country walks, museums and the wonderful City of Durham. As a dog owner, we were pleased to note that dogs are allowed on the Park and Ride buses and many taxis. The park and ride can easily be accessed straight from the site, a 10 min walk across a few main roads, but very manageable, takes you to the ticket office, where the bus takes you into the middle of Durham. Durham is beautiful, a vibrant place to be, with lots of individual shops, cafe's providing lots of outside eating at the moment at least. There's a lovely walk around the outside of the river in Durham, and also inside. We walked back to the site along the river, which was beautiful and about 4 1/2 kilometers. Beamish Museum is only a 15 minute drive, easy parking for motorhomes and well worth a day trip. There is a huge Tesco a 5 minute drive from the site, again, plenty of motorhome parking. Well worth a trip to this site, don't be put off by the position.
