Handy for Durham

We stayed here for eight nights. It’s very handy for the motorway and access is good, just get across into the right hand lane ASAP when leaving the roundabout. We didn’t find the road noise a problem, probably because the trees were in full leaf. We Walked into Durham along the river, (map aviable 20p from reception), path a little over grown in places but a pleasant walk. We got the bus back to the park and ride. It’s £2 whether you go both ways or not. Getting back to the site from the park and ride is challenge as four main roads to cross. Toilet facilities were spotless, there was a queue for showers one morning. The site was full most of the time we were there. We felt a bit crowded, especially when a caravan arrived on the grass pitch behind us that we hadn’t realised was a pitch! We don’t think they positioned themselves correctly as they were practically in our awning. Lots of movement on the site as it’s so good as a stopover and also has a storage facility. It’s was incredibly quiet though in the evening and early mornings. We really didn’t hear a sound. We did some brilliant cycling, 114 miles in total, all traffic free.
