This site seems to have had some poor reviews recently. We found the site was very well maintained and had first class facilities. The staff had gone to the trouble of making available an in depth 'What's On in Durham' leaflet, our only contact with staff was in booking in and the lady was polite and efficient. We arrived a couple of minutes after 12.00 and she knew she had a long queue of people to deal with.Yes the access in one direction is a right turn off a dual carriageway shortly after a roundabout and you need to take the outside lane when you exit the roundabout but it does say that in the handbook directions. Yes there is a steady drum of road noise from the adjacent A1, so perhaps not the site to choose if you find that annoying and only intend to sit around the site all day, again it warns of noise in the handbook. We had a very pleasant week touring the area.
