We only stayed booked two nights here as we weren't sure how we'd cope with no facilities block. However we shall be back! The lack of facilities gave us the opportunity to be brave and try out our rather small shower in the van - a success, an adequate ablute was had by all. The dogs loved the extensive dog walk and off lead facilities. A visit to Hadrian's Wall is of course a must but be warned, Vindalanda (run by the Vindalanda Trust)is not dog friendly,apparently due to its being a 'Scheduled Ancient Monument'! Go to Housesteads Fort (National Trust and English Heritage) - the views are superb and dogs are welcome and I do believe that too is a 'scheduled Ancient Monument'.....
