perfect

This club site has it all!  It is beautifully quiet, in the centre of town with only a few hundred yards to walking in every direction. The facilities are exceptional, clean, well designed and a pleasure to use.  I could not rate it more highly.

Fabulous Site

My partner, myself and our two dogs have just come back from spending 5nights here, fab site lovely, quiet and right next to a small traditional town, the scenery around the site is beautiful, and the walks that you can do take you on some stunning views, a good pair of walking boots or trainers are recommended and hope you not afraid of some steep inclines. The site itself it great, immaculately clean and well kept, the wardens were great, informing us about different walks we could take and places to visit, the to reception at the site is very poor......unless you either take ariel cable with you or you can purchase some in reception/the shop which you then plug into the back of the power hookups, I did break my rubber hammer trying to get my rock pegs into the hard standing, but the warden was great I asked if I could lend a hammer, which he replied there is a tool kit available to lend in all c&c sites, proper hammer did the job in no time. Thank you Exmoor House team, will definatly be revisiting :-)

Cold welcome. Less than helpfull when needed assistance

First of all I would just like to say that I am not in the habit or writing reviews but feel so strongly about how we were treated at this ssite.... We visited Exmoor House Caravan Club Site for one night initialy but may have stayed two. This was our very first outing in our brand new motorhome in order to check it out before venturing further afield (we live in Taunton). We had a problem with the heating system, we could not heat up our water on gas nor electric. There is no signal available at the site due to location so asked if I could use the phone in the office if I parked outside as it was a hands free phone. You think that I was asking for the world. I was told to either drive up the road to a higher point to pick up a signal or use the pay phone which I did. I needed to make several calls to our supplier. They rang me back on the site phone but I was not allowed to step out side of the office. In the end I decided to give up on the fault and move to another friendly site, I was reminded by the female agent that I was only booked in for one day anyway. I think she wanted me to leave!!!! I will not be returning. We have stayed at many different sites over the years and met some really pleasant, helpful site agents. This is a good site, it is very clean and tidy, it is perfectly located just do not expect a warm welcome.

Suited us a treat!

A perfect Easter Holidays location for us... i.e. Two people needing a peaceful base to go walking with our two dogs. Perfect weather too!  A fine base for walking. Good places to go eat and have a tipple as Dulverton has all we needed for the evening bit.  It might be the fact that I'm a bit tight - but fees charged for three days parked up against the wall of an office building did seem a bit steep. Still, a great trip!

Return visit

We stayed at Exmoor House over the Easter weekend, this being our 2nd visit. We absolutley love this site! It's a fabulously clean and peaceful site, with friendly wardens. Facilities are excellent. Dulverton is only 150 yards away, with a choice of many places to drink and dine etc. The Bridge Inn is great for real Ales and food. Plenty of walks available from the site. Didn't really need to leave, didn't want to go home! Already booked for October, but we might get a sneaky weekend in before then.

So peaceful

We just spent our Easter break here. A lovely site right next to the river, and a 5 minute walk into Dulverton. A lovely warm welcome from the warden, after a 6 hour drive. Whole site well looked after and presented.  We would thoroughly recommend this site for those who want a quiet break. However, I'm not sure there's much to do for younger members of the family.

Lovely Site

Just spent a (short) week here and found it to be an excellent site with great updated facilities. Wardens friendly and helpful. Will certainly return in the future.

A little gem on Exmoor

Lovely site next to the River Barle, well kept and maintained. Toilets/Showers were modern, spotless and warm. Really nice pitches next to the River Barle and excellent walks around the area including further afield onto Exmoor. Don't miss the opportunity to eat at Woods restaurant (advisable to book before leaving home) and the Tantivy cafe is a real delight. Overall Dulverton has to be one of the friendliest places we've stayed. Everyone spoke to us even the teenagers arriving at Church on Saturday afternoon. Exmoor House site is a real gem ...but don't tell too many....we wouldn't want it to get too busy!

How to spoil a good weekend!

Exmoor house is a jewel in the portfolio of sites. I have been using it for over 25 years and have been using club facilities since my first rally in 1953 !!! I have always found the club wardens to be friendly, welcoming and perform there duties efficiently to ensure that members experience the best possible stay. But never have I received a welcome like the one we received ... We arrived at 12.40. ( I know we are asked not to arrive before 1pm) on arrival the wardeness came rushing out of her caravan, I apologised for arriving before one and said that I would leave the camper whilst she finished her lunch and I would pop to the newsagent to buy a paper ( approx 400m) and return by 1pm.  I then experienced a tirade from the wardeness about the rules, the website and the booking form all stating that I cannot arrive before 1pm and I had to leave. I asked where she suggest I go ... She said she didn't care but I have to leave the site , when pressed she directed me to the car park outside the site ... This clearly states No Campers and No vehicle over 1525kg.  I did not join the Club to be 'controlled' and spoken to in this manner ... Thankfully all the other wardens I have met have interpreted their role of serving the members in a much more positive manner. But Dulverton and the site are 'magical' and a secret we have held dear.

Comment from The Club:

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review and we are pleased to hear that Exmoor House Caravan Club Site is a site that you hold dear. The warden has been in touch to clear up any misunderstanding. As you arrived 20 minutes early she asked that you stay with your vehicle and check in at 1pm. As the site has a very short arrival lane for 3 vehicles, the gates then become blocked and no one can enter or leave the site. As such they cannot have parked outfits without the driver in case they have to clear the entrance. I hope this clears up any confusion and addresses your concern. The wardens look forward to welcoming you again soon.
