Good for families

Good and bad.

We were given a choice of two pitches on arrival for our caravan and awning. Taking the warden's advice we chose a pitch which was the poorest. Two 25m cables for hook up and a TV point that didn't work. Chocks needed to level the van and a squeeze to get car and awning on the pitch. Strangely the non awning sites seemed larger pitches, reserved for the camper vans. The approach to the site is tricky, very narrow in places and essential to arrive after 12.00 and leave well before. Facilities are standard CCM and adequate for a small site. Good parts are the woodland walks, a good pub two minutes away and the tranquil setting. Decent location for visits but not suitable for cycling. Day trip to Calais was enjoyable, Battle, Rye and Camber sands also. Hastings not brilliant, neither the Cuckoo cycle trail, 15 miles away and just a long tunnel of bushes, not very interesting. Be sure to go south to North to avoid the uphill return. Overall an enjoyable stay but the weather made it. In future I won't listen to wardens.
