Lovely small well-kept site
- I thought this a pretty little site and enjoyed a three night stay. I had a serviced pitch which was very well-maintained, fresh looking, spacious and well provided for with the usual facilities on neat, well-kept bollards and stands. It is an intimate site but more than half the pitches are arranged around a large, circular green space and in these parts it had the effect of making the site feel much larger than it was and bright and open.
- The remaining pitches are in one loop off this circular road and that seemed a bit cut adrift to me and I would not want to have been in that part.
- The circular arrangement, with all the facilities in one purpose built structure (attractive stonework but very ugly roof) on one side of the circle, does mean that people inevitably cut across the green to the loos, reception, washing up area and so on with the result that people pass between pitches regularly. Though sometimes mildly irritating this has to be accepted as fair game, but it does mean the chances of ignorant people walking across one’s pitch is also greater than usual. Hence, presumably, the angry review further down this page. I empathize with this gentleman. For me, walking on other people’s pitches is the apex of bad site-etiquette.
- I liked the small unassuming town of Forfar. Fairly typically dour, it was, nonetheless, friendly and warm.
- I took the bus to Dundee which I liked. I walked around the loch; this is not the most attractive you’ll see but it provides a short bracing walk in Scottish rain – the conditions at the time. The path is not well kept in parts, but not too muddy.
- There are no less than four supermarkets within walking distance – including both the German discounters. The site is not immediately adjacent to the loch as the CMC blurb might make you believe, but this did not much matter.
- All in all a pleasant stay and I would happily return here again.
