Great base for Gower

This is a lovely, level site with views from the entrance across the estuary. It’s position means it is prone to flooding at certain times when heavy rain and high tides combine and this had been the case the week before I was there. I know the wardens had had a stressful time trying to get hold of people to warn/ cancel. Luckily my booking wasn’t affected and even more luckily I had beautiful weather for the whole 10 days. The site is well located for touring the Gower peninsula with its stunning beaches and walks, and also on Cycle Route 4 so it’s an easy bike ride to Mumbles or Swansea in one direction and Llanelli and Pembrey in the other. The band system for the showers etc seemed to work well and personally I never had to queue. Every other shower/ washbasin is blocked off to maintain distancing. Thank you to the wardens for their hard work in maintaining the site under difficult circumstances.

On Site 25th July

I loved this Site, it was in a great location and maintained to a very high standard The 4 Wardens were excellent, very welcoming, accommodating, helpful and friendly. Thank You I'm sorry but I need to add this, which is Definatly and by NO means aimed at the Wardens. It is aimed at other members/campers who allowed their children to cycle round the Site access roads, at times not supervised despite a lot of them being very young, and some did not wear helmits. There was great access to the playing fields, etc., surely they could have taken their children there, it would have been safer. Added to this when the children were not on their bikes they allowed them to play around other members/campers Pitches.

Disapointing holiday

Upon arrival we were greeted by the most miserable female warden we have ever met on a club site, we paid in vouchers and £1.80 in cash, she did nothing but moan about the cash but handled the vouchers with no problem so whats the difference?, whilst dealing with my wife another chap arrived to book in and his welcome by the warden was "get out and wait your turn only one at a time" he walked out and was not to pleased Considering she was so particular about cash and covid regs its a big shame this did not extend to the facilities block, in all our years using club sites the toilets were the worst we have seen, In the gents the hand dryer was broken and for 2 days there was no paper towel, the hand sanitizing was empty also for a couple days and the general cleanliness was bad to say the least. My wife said similar to the ladies toilets as they needed a good clean plus there was a instance where there was no toilet paper. As they have most of the shower cubicles and toilets locked up surely the ones that are open require cleaning more often due to the use they are getting as the site was fairly full. A few days into our holiday our minature shih tzu's dog lead broke and he walked to a caravan next but one to us and as we quickly spotted what had happened, it was no cause for alarm but the same female warden took it as another option to have a go at us which she did with avengance. She got told that if she was as quick to maintain the site/facilities block as she was to moan at everyone the place would look decent and covid safe. All she could say is if you don't like what you see go in reception and fill a complaint form out. Surprisingly not long after this the wardens were out cleaning the facilities block and they were spotted around more frequently. Later that day in our support a fellow caravaner came to us and said she deserved what she got as she asked for it with her attitude as apparently a few people had commented about the general state if the site and attitude. We have stayed at this site before and had a lovely holiday but after this time I don't think we will return for a long time which is a shame because of the beautiful location of the site.

Can't blame the site for the weather

We arrived in the rain on Saturday 15 August. The check in was quick and easy and the lady later rang us to advise of a hard standing becoming available. This was very welcome and appreciated because a motorhome on a soggy grass pitch, with more rain forecasted, is not a good idea. Because of Covid 19 the shower/toilet block was limited to a maximum of three people at any one time. With a site of this size, having only one toilet block, is a bit tight at the best of times but under the current restrictions it makes life very frustrating when queuing in the rain to use the facilities. As for the location we were disappointed, we knew that the site was not on the coast and we would need to drive to a beach but the town had little to offer in the way of eateries of bars. The one pub we did find was closed. This meant that we had to use the car every day/evening if we wished to go off site. Without Covid and days and days of rain our review may have been a little more positive.

Good site

First time for us at this site despite living local. Only our second outing in our new van after a 30 year break from owning a caravan. On arrival staff were extremely helpful in giving us all the required information on the site. Well located for exploring the Gower without the hassle of towing your caravan through the Gower. Cannot comment on toilet/shower block due to closure due to Covid-19. Plenty of shops locally. Will be returning to this lovely site.

Peaceful site in great location

We stayed here in early September for three nights. I cannot agree with other reviewers that the road was noisy, and we were pitched near the entrance! This is a large spacious site spread over three fields divided by trees. There are more grass than hard standings so first come first served if you have a motorhome like us. Staff very friendly and helpful. However only one facilities block with 5 showers in ladies but far more toilets - why?! Often a queue for the showers in the morning. two dish washing area, one inside with 4 sinks, the other a semi-covered outdoor one. Good laundry and CDP. Nearby there is a petrol station with an excellent Tesco Express supermarket which is within walking distance from the rear gate of the site. Excellent base for exploring the Gower, We hired a car through the club for three days and it only cost £49! The access road to the site from the traffic lights is narrow at first so care should be taken. Large motorhomes should ensure they follow the directions avoiding the low bridge.

Fantastic First Trip

This was our very first caravan trip. We had picked it up that morning! On arrival we said it was our first time and was shown what to do with regards to the electric. The lady behind the counter was very pleasant and very helpful. The site was very tidy and well kept and the toilet block was very impressive. We weren’t looking to do any real activities as we just wanted to start camping with our caravan so didn’t go outside of the site. We will definitely go back to this site many times I suspect in the future, thanks for a great first experience.

clean pleasant site ideal for Gower visit but road noise.

This is well situated to tour the Gower Peninsula and like all club sites there was a great welcome, helpful staff and very clean. There is a good cycle path from near to the site to Swansea and the bay area through a lovely wooded valley. However, the road noise from both the VERY close main A road and depending on wind direction the motorway, which continues all night. This unfortunately spoilt our stay as it was very intrusive (we do live in sleepy herefordshire with little traffic). In addition the roads around Gowerton are very busy and walking from site requires one to walk along them with no footpaths for a good mile or so before getting onto proper footpaths (we wanted to walk along the north/west Gower way). We would not return but for the reasons that the club has no control over

Relaxed and clean site

We stayed here for a couple of nights in September on the recommendation of a friend. We were disappointed with the location of the site as it was close to busy and noisy main roads with a train track running along the side of the site. The trains didn’t bother us but there was constant traffic noise. We took a local waymarked walk on the second day but found it difficult to follow as the instructions were poor and not enough markers were present. The area was also very bad for mosquitoes and made it difficult to sit out during the evening. When we came to leave, there was a problem with our motorhome and we had to wait for a breakdown service past the 12 o’clock deadline. This was not a problem as the site was at least half empty and the staff were very good about it. We are unlikely to return to this site because although the site itself is well kept and has a nice atmosphere, the local area is just not nice enough and the traffic is horrible.
