Lone voice of dissent?

We received a cheery welcome on arrival and were escorted to our allocated pitch.  First impressions are that this site looks immaculately maintained.  However, this comes at a price; a huge team of gardeners worked solidly through Thursday afternoon and were still at it during Friday morning. Despite a tiring drive we were unable to sit outside and relax as the noise from the hedge cutters, strimmers and lawn mowers was quite invasive. Another barrier to sitting outside are the very tight touring pitches.  Had we wound out our awning we would have in all likelihood been covering next doors car.  They weren't inconsiderately parked - there was just no room.  We had tried to book a super pitch for the free wifi etc. There is pay-as-you-go wifi but after trying to log onto the registration page for 2 hours we gave up.  TV reception was also poor. We are new to touring and currently use just a digital arial.  Perhaps if you have more technical kit you would get a better signal? There are two shower blocks on site and from the look of them you would be forgiven for thinking that they are on two separate sites.  One, in the centre of the park, is modern with underfloor heating.  The second at the back on the hill was cold (Scotland in July!) and the shower temperature fluctuated great making it potentially dangerous.  Talking of hills, our pitch sloped greatly and required the 4th step of the levelling blocks. Grantown itself was a disappointment and seems to have suffered the economic downturn with many of the Main Street hotels closed.  Having said that there are lots of easily accessible walks and cycles from the campsite entrance and a walks leaflet is available in reception.  There is lots to do in the surrounding area if you have transport. I wouldn't recommend this site and can't envisage returning.
