Great asset for the CC

Such an unusual site set amongst the typical deciduous woodland of this area. An excellent touring base for the myriad of beautiful lanes through woodland, forest, moorland and the coast. Several of the wonderful “Great Little Trains of Wales” are within reach, as the the two truly spectacular red kite feeding stations (Gigrin Farm and Nant yr Arian). The Dyfi Osprey Centre has more to offer than ospreys, including a nice cafe area and the Corris Craft Centre is well worth a lengthy visit, especially as it is the home of “King Arthur’s Labyrinth”, an adventure for all with any imagination - superb. We spent 12 nights at Gwern y Bwlch (having spent a similar amount of time here a few years back) and it is not enough to do the area justice. The site itself, set on a hill is most unusual and affords beautiful views for many of the pitches. Of course, this tiered layout does mean that walking to and or from service points may not be easy for those who are less able. Some of the pitches looked uneven so levelling blocks would be a good idea. The nearby road can be a little noisy through the day but we didn’t find it a problem at all. Some of the service point looked a little “tired” and could do with a bit of TLC from the Club soon. Most disappointing is that the site closes before Autumn really gets underway - the very time of year when this area is at its scenic best (not that this site is unique in this regard). Admittedly, the gradient of the roadway on the site may make it hazardous come the frosts but it is a real shame. Well worth a long stay.
