Great Easter break

We have visited this site numerous times. A VERY warm welcome from the wardens...they are great!!! Lovely and peaceful throughout our stay...people left pitches and came onto pitches very quietly too. Good dog walk. Very poor/non-existent mobile reception but this was fine for us. Good TV reception though. The only slight down-side was the shower block - one boiler was broken and not fixed throughout the week and this meant limited water and shower availability - on one occasion the water just dribbled out - however we managed and not the wardens fault. Just wish the Club would bring the very clean shower/toilet block up to the modern standard of other sites please.

Great find

Just returned from our first trip to the Yorkshire Dales and 5 nights at Hawes. The site is absolutely perfect for walking the dales and taking in the breathtaking scenery. It is within walking distance to the town and the Wensleydale creamery which is a must. We were recommended The Crown PH for somewhere to eat but we didn't rate it. The menu is very basic and the food quality poor and in my opinion overpriced.  I can however recommend The Green Dragon in Hardraw. Proper home cooked food, excellent real ales and great value with friendly staff and the dogs are welcome. We ate here twice following a long walk across the fields and it was just perfect. If you're looking for a nice well kept site with fantastic walks and scenery then Hawes won't disappoint. The site is very well maintained and the wardens couldn't be more helpful. The games room was great for the rainy days too. Well done staff at Hawes and thank you we had a great time and will definitely be returning.

Sorry for the Staff

Stayed over the Easter weekend. Not the best weather. The wardens do their very best and the facilities are always left spotless, however it only take a short time for the gents toilets to be fouled again. There is no excuse for the state others leave the toilets in. Sorry but I have been to Hawes on four occasions and always find the same issue.

Good site

We stayed here in March 2016.  The site and its facilities and wardens were up to the Caravan Club's usual high standards. My only comment would be that signage from the main road through Hawes could be better.  Until you get onto the little road which passes the site and joins up with the one-way system around the town, we did not see any signs at all.  Had to go round the town twice, which in a wide motorvan on narrow streets throng with tourists was slightly hair-raising.   Otherwise very enjoyable.

Another Wonderful Stay!

We have stayed at this site many times, and it really is one of the best sites in the Club. Both the wardens & their assistants are a credit to the Club - nothing is too much trouble, and they go out of their way to make sure that your stay is an enjoyable one. Hawes is a lovely town, with plenty of eating places ( can also recommend The Crown). Lots of lovely walks direct from the site. We will definitely be returning.

1st Weekend

Warm welcome, wardens friendly. Have stayed many times over the years. Updating of shower block would be an asset. Lovely dog walk even after flooding problems.

Another fab stay

We have stayed at the Hawes site on 4 occasions over the last 2 years. The wardens on duty have always been extremely pleasant and helpful on arrival and during our stay. High standard facilities which are spotlessly clean. The site is a five minute walk into Hawes where there are plenty of pub grub places to eat . It is also a 15 minutes walk from the Stonehouse Hotel which does a gourmet 5 course meal for £37. Everything on the menu is locally sourced and homemade including treacle bread and ice creams. The staff are really friendly and even offered to give us a lift home. We have done several walks - the touristy ones into Hawes, and the Wensleydale Creamery, which is a must; and also surrounding villages which are served by a local bus route if you don't want to do a circular walk. There are also several walks to Hardraw or Aysgarth falls; and  into the remote hills which are varying lengths. A 20 minute hike from the site will get you above the village of Hawes to stunning views. A brilliant location for a weekend or a two week break.

What a great break!

We arrived late afternoon, very easy to find, sat nav took us straight there. The lady on reception (I believe her and her husband were the assistant wardens) was really friendly and as we had told her we were complete newbies at caravanning she pointed us to a choice of easy pitches for setting up. Shortly after setting up, the ladies husband arrived as he had been asked by her to check that we were alright. He helped us set everything up and could not have been more helpful. It seemed nothing was a problem to him - thank you very much. The site was spotless and a credit to the wardens. The facilities were very good, the washing/toilet block was as clean as you would find anywhere. Hawes itself was a short walk from the campsite, twice we ate out at the Crown Hotel, definitely recommended. I marked the 'Peace and Quiet' box as a 4* because the local farm dog woke me up two mornings, it didn't wake the wife up though, otherwise it was a very pleasant place to stay. There's lots to do and see within a short distance of the campsite, it's an excellent base to start from and we will be booking up again in the future.

Happy Campers

We arrived on Thursday night and were quite late but the staff waited for us, they helped us pick a suitable pitch and they were very welcoming. The dog walk was great (the biggest one I have ever seen) so even the dog had a fab time. The village is 10 minutes walk and the pubs and shops were dog friendly and we would definitely recommend this site. We are going back again and would give it 10/10 ??

Sad to leave again

Yet again a perfect break. Been many times and not disappointed. Site immaculate as usual, toilets also immaculate, clean and warm. Lovely walk into village for lunches and teas many good local pubs to choose from and a walk to the creamery is always on our list. If you do not have a dog the restaurant and coffee shop there look lovely but we tend to take turn a piece popping in for goodies then walk home via the pub.  We left reluctantly on 13/3 and can not wait to go back. We have travelled further afield on previous trips for days out and there is so much to see you will never be board.
