Great Site in a beautiful area

My favourite CC site! Stayed here in the Easter holidays for a long weekend. A lovely well maintained site with helpful staff and lots of wildlife. Only a 5 min walk into Hawes with a choice of pubs, good local shops, the wensleydale creamery and gayle mill. The Dales museum is also worth a visit. Despite being so close to the village the site is really quiet with no traffic noise. There is a lovely ~2 mile walk across fields to Hardraw Force and the Green Dragon pub. The only reason I havent given 5* is that I think that another toilet block at the top if site near reception would be good. We stayed in a serviced pitch and its a bit of a trek with a child down to the only toilet block. The games room is a great idea for kids, however the large outdoor playing field is perfect for some swings, slides etc. My 6 year old would love it even more!

Easter

Having visited this site lots of times, this Easter was perfect for weather. Our favourite Wensleydale cheese was perfect from the creamery and our favourite pub 'The Crown' was as good as ever for food & real ale. We tried a new walk this time - around Lake Semerwater - a lovely light walk mainly on the flat but with lots of stiles.

Fabulous

Great site, easy walk into Hawes. Fantastic area to explore. First visit to Hawes but will definitely return. Some good places to eat in the village. If coming from the North West would recommend route via A65 and Ingleton as the route via Brough and B road from Kirkby Stephen is quite narrow and tricky. It's a bit longer via Ingleton but much easier road.

Hawes camp site

Visited the site over Easter weekend had some good weather which always helps. Close to the town to walk in and very good bus service to Leyburn and Bedale. The site was almost full but the excellent toilet and shower block coped really well. Excellent site well located will certainly visit again

Fantastic site, great location

Visited the site over Easter for a week and blessed with good weather. Close enough to the town to walk in and hardly used the car at all. Some great scenery and walks if that's your thing and also a great play room for the kids. Very busy site but still nice and quiet.  Wardens always say hello and pass the time of day. Site is kept very clean and tidy as are the showers.  One of best sites we have visited and will definitely return.

great visit

First trip of the season to Hawes. Peter and Lesley have, again, been very busy with a great new reception area and revamp of the veg prep room. Looking forward to lots more visits this year, great site.

Great site, great location.

Had a brilliant weekend at this site. Literally 4/5 minutes walk to the centre of Hawes, and on several main walk routes. It's has all the usual expectations of CC sites. Great shower block, good size pitches etc. Although it was quite full, still felt there was plenty of space. We found two fantastic features, huge dog walk area, and also a fantastic games room with several pieces of equiptment, table tennis, pool etc, so great for children also. Will definitely return, and look forward to seeing the very welcoming and friendly wardens.......great attribute to the site.

First Visit

Arrived at Noon, after travelling up A1 and then across to Hawes. Very nice journey and was surprised to find site quite full. Site is delightful with lovely views. 10 minutes walk and your in the Town, Lots to visit, shops and Cheese factory, rope making etc. Site facilities are perfect and Wardens with a big smile. Was chilly as expected (March) but the stars at night in Hawes are well worth a look 10/10 all round

Nice peaceful site.

Our first CC site and a lovely few days. Well kept site with very friendly staff. Showers nice and very clean but floors a bit cold. Nice walking distance of Hawes which has everything you could need. Lots of great walking in the area too.

excellent chill out

The site was great - it had all you need for a peaceful and picturesque break.  Ideal for country lovers and great for serious walkers. It is only a short walk into Hawes where there is plenty of public houses to eat.  Look forward to returning.
