Recent stay

Just returned from a weekend stay at this site and it certainly won't be our last. Check in process was very smooth and staff were fabulous throughout our stay. Toilets were spotless and the site is maintained to a very high standard. The dog walking area is fantastic, especially for dogs that love to be off the lead. Perimeter is well fenced, contains a great little wooded area so lots of sights and sounds for the dogs to explore. Ten minute walk into Hawes, with some great independent shops and a number of pubs and cafes. We ate at the White Hart Inn on the Saturday evening and the food was superb. I would recommend booking in advance, due to its popularity. They have a dog friendly area in the restaurant, with an open fire. Lots of walks around the area with beautiful scenery to take in, with maps and directions available from reception. Fabulous site overall and can't recommend it enough, especially our serviced pitch number 120...

Possibly the nicest wardens

Have just left this site after 3 wonderful nights. From walking into the reception the wardens were so kind, professional and informative. The site is an absolute credit to the CAMHC. The facilities are spotless and the grounds well maintained. We booked a return stay whilst on site and am really looking forward to it. Thankyou

Great location, lovely site, brilliant for dogs (and people!)

We were booked for 3 nights and ended up staying for 5, we were having such a good time even in the snow and temperatures that reached minus 3! Very friendly and helpful staff, always happy to offer a smile and a quick word. Ideally placed for the most fabulous walks which go directly from the site. We used the OS application and you could follow any number of walks which are as hard or easy as you would like, all well signposted. Lots of sheep so dog often on lead but also many fields with no livestock and up in the hills mainly empty. The village is lovely - friendly pubs (we tried three) and all the basics that you would need. The waterfall at the Green Dragon is probably over-priced at £4 a head but worth a visit and is very well maintained. The Simonstone Hotel was a great stop off point for lunch - wonderful views, lovely staff and definitely worth a drop in. The site is clean and well maintained - slight niggle is only one facilities block which depending on where you are pitched may be inconvenient. The dog walking field is huge and accessible - one of the best we have seen, with lots of fast rabbits to keep the dog on his toes! (and no, he never got close!) All in a brilliant plan and we will definitely return!

Second visit and wont be the last

This is our second visit, we arrived about 2pm and drove straight in but we noticed on other days people were arriving at 12 (check in is at 1pm ) and causing chaos then flying round the site trying to find the best spot like something out of whacky warehouse. The wardens are very friendly and helpful ( say hello to the F1 fan for us ) The walks are plentiful and from the door step and there's also a big dog walking area with lots of poo bins. An easy 5-10 min walk into the village with pubs and cafe's. Take a walk to the green dragon!! Some people might not like the early morning wake up call from the adjoining farm but we are from that background so didn't bother us. We will be back :-)

Happy New Year Stay

Stayed at the Hawes Site for 5 nights over the New Year period. Lovely site, perfect location for access to Hawes and surrounding beautiful countryside. Lovely pubs in Hawes itself fabulous lunch at the White Hart and the Green Dragon at Hardraw is definitely worth the walk, beautiful pub. The facilities were excellent, lovely and clean. Fabulous dog walk. We didn't use the Games room but it looked perfect for occupying families. We did have cause to use the drying room as the weather was particularly unkind rain wise! We love Hawes and this caravan site is the perfect place to stay while visiting there.

Lovely Clean Site ( a credit to the caravan and motorhome club)

This was my wife and i second visit to this site in the last 2 weeks. it takes us just over 2 hours to get here but the end result is worth every minute on the road The site is spotless, the showers and toilet's are very clean and the staff are very friendly. The lovely village of Hawes is on the doorstep and has a good selection of public houses and a working men's club to watch the sport , if that's your thing. A couple of general stores and a lovely fish and chip shop. The Wensleydale creamery and Gayle falls are both within walking distance of the site. The Pennine Way is a must. and a ride up to Tan Hill Inn the highest public house in the UK. We love this place and look forward to returning again very shortly. C.M.C Have backed a winner with this site. (well done)

Best showers ever!

This site is in a great location for exploring the Dales. It’s within easy reach of the village which has great pubs, grocery store and bakery. The shower and toilet facilities were faultless - hot water, spotlessly clean and best of all no push button shower! It is a large, busy site but we expected that. Only slight negative is that the staff seemed fed up and a bit jaded - they’d obviously had a long summer and it showed in their interaction with guests.

Very unfriendly warden

I have been a member and using club sites for over 30 years but I have never encountered such rudeness from a warden. This was on booking in at about 1.30pm. There was a long queue of caravanners waiting to get onsite and only one warden booking us in so understandably she was flustered. It would have been far simpler if the warden had checked everyone’s name and vehicle reg and waved us on to pitch up and then return to the office later to pay. I have done this on other sites so why can’t they do this at Hawes? Otherwise the location of the site is excellent. The toilet block is not particularly COVID friendly. You have to walk past all the showers to get to the toilets and back past the showers to the hand washing basins. We had a service pitch so fortunately didn’t use the facilities on seeing them.

Excellent site - interesting village

Stayed for 2 nights at the end of October 2021. We had poor weather but the scenery was great. The village of Hawes was interesting and surprisingly busy. Walked to the Hardraw falls nearby. The site is great and facilities are brilliant. The staff cannot do enough for you

BACK AGAIN!

Visited here many time, but this first time in maybe 3 years, still lovely, and also improved showers etc since last visit. Site seems full which you would expect at half term. Such a handy site for all the Dales has to offer. The village a 10minute stroll away, busy, but a good selection of pubs, shops etc. Fish and chip shop highly recommended! Shop on sites sells milk etc. Wardens friendly but not had need to contact them. Just a note on the pitches, some on the bottom right of the site are near the farm and from previous visits especially at certain times of the year can be quite noisy with the usual farm yard sounds, doesn’t bother us as have them at home, but if you are wanting a lie in might get disturbed. Plenty of good walks from the site, but due to the lovely stone walls that depict the Dales, and the sometimes difficult stiles, we struggle finding a good route that our dog can manage now! A good easy walk to the Green Dragon at Hardraw though. Lots of other lovely interesting villages to explore within a short drive. Plus Ribblehead Viaduct and White Scar caves, Asgrigg where Skeldale House is of the All Creatures Great and Small fame. If you enjoy wildlife can recommend visiting the red squirrel trail at Snaizeholme, third visit and never been disappointed. Unless you want a long walk to get there you can book the little White Bus, or pre book a parking spot at Snaizeholme, only room for maybe 4 cars, just a short walk from there. It’s £5 and you pay at the farm. Both these can be booked at the Yorkshire Dales National Park tourist info in village. As it’s a relatively short trip for us ( just over the border😄) will be back soon. — at Hawes Club Site
