A Fantastic Location for Local Hiking

For 7 days I found this site to be perfectly-situated for hiking around the area and up the hills which form the lengthy valley it sits in. A week after the April re-opening, arrival was efficient and flawless with an outside 'meet and greet'; quite a few pitches will require effort of some kind to achieve even something approaching a level situation. Facilities (no shower access as yet), wifi/TV via bollard output etc were all totally acceptable and cleaned with clearly great effort and proficiency ! A non-sensical policy (seemingly not made properly from 'up high') meant that until I, and a few others apparently, queried it face masks were not required in the facilities blocks; by midweek that was corrected...My motorhome always stays parked at sites, so Hawes CMC was ideal for long-distance hiking/climbs as very decent circular routes could be supplemented with 'return' routes - by taking advantage of a one-way bus trip using the excellent local service available from the town centre; a planned bus/rail/bus day out was aborted as timetables were still in flux ! NB that few routes will offer protection from rain/wind - thankfully my stay was about as perfect as it can get with sun/light winds !
