Frosty weekend

We have just returned from a two night stay at this site. During the week prior to our visit we kept in touch with the site wardens by telephone and they very helpfully updated us as to local weather conditions and whether the roads to the site were passable. On Saturday, we drove over the moor roads from West Yorkshire through some ice and a little snow and so were relieved to reach the site and the very warm welcome from the warden. We found the site easily, the instructions in the handbook seemed very clear. Despite the frosty weather the main areas were kept well gritted and additional grit was available should we have needed it. The toilets and showers are warm and clean with lots of hot water. Much appreciated after a cold days walking on the Pennine Way. We would recommend the easy walk over to Hawdraw and the Green Dragon Pub. There is a fire in the range and the menu looked great. You can also (for a small cost) walk out the back of the pub for a close up view of the waterfall. Well worth it.
