Access issues and road noise

I usually put little store by reviews as they are by their very nature subjective. However more than one person recently has referred to access issues which I consider are material and should be incorporated on the website. My wife and I visited for a week in June as part of a walking/cycling holiday. We are both very experienced road cyclists and hill walkers so were very disappointed to find that it was impossible either to leave the site ( with one minor exception) on foot or by bicycle as the lanes are literally too narrow to allow even the local Tesco delivery van to pass. Consequently we had to drive off the site to do anything which then brought all the usual parking issues into play. While we were not there in the main English school holiday period the site was full and the toilet block very clean and more than adequate for the site, and we did receive polite assistance from the wardens so are very surprised to read certain other reviews. The A303 provides a lot of road noise and may affect light sleepers but as others have highlighted the site access from it is difficult both because of lack of signage and the very nature of the access itself. Although it did not affect us I would anticipate as has been suggested that a left turn travelling West would be very difficult and not without risk for larger units for which access from te East would be much simpler. The same applies in reverse in that due to the sheer and constant volume of traffic on the A303 it must be next to impossible to turn right across the road to head East as there is not enough clear visibility to allow a safe exit for eg a Volvo plus 8m caravan. I firmly believe that this factual detail as to access/egress and the need to drive off site to partake of any activity should be noted on the website and shall be copying this to the club’s admin dept
