Nice Journey Break

Intended to stop for 1 night enroute from Cornwall to Hertfordshire but this turned into 2 nights due to the weather. The site was very busy & we only got the 2nd night due to a late cancellation, so much relieved not to have to continued our journey in 40+mph winds. I found the site managers very friendly & efficient particularly when dealing what seemed a high number of guests with little experience of what they were doing. The notice in the gents toilet block gave a clear indication of the type of behaviour the managers were having to deal with as far as normal toilet hygene goes. Nobody is paid enough to have to clean up excrement from almost every available surface. I also witnessed large motorhomes with trailers turning up without having checked ahead that the site was suitable for such beasts. The managers did their best to accomodate all, even providing wheel mats to help motorhomes get off the wet grass, even if the drivers didn't know if they were front or rear wheel drive. Perhaps it's the fault of the club not to have anywhere on the booking form to indicate space for a trailer is required. I didn't see much of the local area but do agree that the site access is not obvious from the A303. Luckily I'd had verbal instruction from the managers. As has been mentioned in another review there were not any visible site signs on the A303 & to turn left into the lane from the A303 is very tight. My advice would be to drive past the lane if travelling from the east & then take the first exit on the dual carriageway & turn back on yourself to approach from the right (west).
